  1. Thanks guys, I managed to get it off today!
  2. Thanks for all the info! I will give it a go tomorrow. Cheers, Finn
  3. Hi Guys, I have got a broken half shaft (24 spline of an ex mod axle). Could anyone give me an idea of how to remove the cv from the half shaft? I do not see the cir clip. Do I just need to force the bearing off so I can remove the half shaft? I am thankful for all tips I can get. Many thanks, F.
  4. Hi guys, has anyone got some pictures of the superwinch rear pto fitted to a defender 90, 110 or 127? Like the one in this manual: There should be 2 kind of setups. The first, as shown in the manual and the second where the rear pto unit is bolted to the inside of the rear cross member. Many thanks, Finn
  5. Hi guys, I am looking for the rear part of the exhaust & the mounting rubber of an '98 disco with 2.5 td engine. Can anyone point me to a parts + repair manual for this car. I need the repair manual for a diffrent job. The car is my granddads, I am not so familiar with it. So here are 2 more questions. How can I see wether this is a discovery I or II? According to my sources the discovery 1 has been build from 10.1989 to 10.1998 and the disco 2 from 08.1996 till now. Could anyone tell me if I need to adjust the valves of the 2.5td manually or are they self adjusting? Thanks, Finn
  6. Hi guys, I am looking for the operating shaft of a defender pto, but it seems that they are not for sale anymore (correct me if I am wrong). Could someone give me the shafts measurements, so I can make one myself. - Lenght - Diameter - Thread Many thanks, Finn
  7. yep, it's an lt85. I have send you a pm. Cheers, Finn ps. rearranging the shaft mounts did not solve the problem.
  8. Unfortunately clocking up the pto does not solve the problem. Installing the shafts on a 4 or 5 cylinder landrover, or on a RHD V8 is no problem. The problem seems to be that it is a LHD V8.. I have searched google - nothing I have searched the tech. archive, there are manuals etc on there, but I already have these. They only show the 110 RHD V8 installation. The hydraulic conversion is also no option, we have now finally found all parts for the mechanical pto. And we are also in a bit of a hurry to finish this. :s
  9. I contacted superwinch today. Apparently they have never produced a drive line kit for the LHD V8... Any suggestions how to solve this issue without removing the gearbox mounting? (which is about 20 cm in front of the lower pto shaft). I get the feeling that I am talking to myself Cheers, Finn
  10. it's actually the rear gearbox mounting which is in the shafts way.. The vehicle is LHD..
  11. I think the engine mounting (3.5l v8, one ten) is in the way of the shaft...
  12. Hi guys, could someone tell me how the pto shaft from a front pto to a h14 winch should be correctly installed? It would be awesome if someone has pictures of a V8 pto setup on a 1987 110. Cheers, Finn
  13. whaaaahh.. I just found one of these large circlips on the floor.. (nr 12 in the drawing) I am going to shoot myself..
  14. Hey guys, today I stripped a defender pto. When putting it back together, I noticed that both driving plates (Nr 1 and 2 in the photo) are not tight together. How do I fasten them?? If I am not mistaken, I had 4 disk springs in there (nr 38 on the drawing). I fastened the location nut (nr. 41 in the drawing) quite tight. But still I can move both part 1 and 2 on the photo, back and forth.. I am confused.. Cheers, Finn
  15. Found it, 4-22-180204143 face seal. Thanks!
  16. Hi guys, the H14 winch has on both sides some kind of rubber seal to keep the dust out. Where can I get this? Cheers, Finn
  17. Ok, I have put everything back together and there is still a bit of play on the handbrakedrum. Not as much as it had, but still a couple of mm. What would be the next thing to ckeck? Or is it normal to have a bit of play? Thanks, Finn
  18. I changed the outer bearing and seal today (not pictured).. But I think there is still play on it. Haven't build it together yet. Because I can move the whole inside (see picture) up and down.. Is this normal at this stage?
  19. I did a bit of research on the web, but couldn't find a lt230 overhaul set for the rear output bearing / oil seal and gaskets. Only very expensive overhaul sets for the whole transfer box. Cheers, Finn
  20. Ok.. I have found the write up in the tech. archive. http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=6917&st=0&p=71088&hl=+output%20+bearing%20+transfer%20+box&fromsearch=1entry71088 Can someone tell what partnr. this overhaul set is? Cheers, Finn
  21. the gearbox is not in the vehicle at the moment. There are 4 bolts coming out at the back of the drumbrake. These should hold the propshaft (shaft is not connected) and the nuts are missing. Is it in this case normal to have play? Cheers, Finn
  22. 'Unless of course the drum/prop is loose on the flange, but I'd have thought that was fairly obvious... ' That would mean that the centred front nut (the large one) is loose? (that is not the case). I still haven't opened it yet, as I need a second man to counter the flange on the front.
  23. in other words; I can move the handbrake drum about 5 mm up and down.
