  1. Come on.... I dont believe they have been sent to the scrap man.
  2. Pict as they left mine... Come on, someone must have seen them?!
  3. Hi, I built up an old F reg 90 F427 *** a number of years ago in tomb raider grey, 300tdi, winch bumper, snorkel, 17inch wheels and cooper muds. I also built a Td5 challenge truck 90 T660 *** and sold a few months back with silver tray back cage, stand out blue and white paint job, mach 5 beadlocks in blue and white with simex etc. If canyone has seen them lately or knows the owners, please tell them to get in contact or post some picts. Would love to see them now. Thanks Pete letsgopedro@hotmail.com
  4. Hello, The Viking way was shut years ago for repair. it was meant to be closed for 6 months ut i know over a year had gone by and it was still shut (mainly due to idiots ignoring the signs and using it anyway!) Is it open again (around Melton area) or has it been shut for good? Also, and idea what state its in? overgrown at all? Cheers, Pete
  5. Plans are coming along nicely now. We have 3 sponsors for the event with some good prizes (not just a strop for 1st place) Looking for some more still but looking good at the moment. Dates are still up in the air due to trying to time the event with when the sites are free and so it doesnt clash witrh anything else, but the tracks are planned and they are looking wicked! Some challenging sections for the standard class, some rather large jumps for the Racers and if you are thinking 'my truck is the rubbish, i dont need a winch' think again.... (now where to find an old skip.... ? ) Hope to see you all there! Keep an eye on the Facebook page for more info. Pete
  6. Are you being serious? The event is about having fun, giving bant and having a laugh. If you want to 'wag your willy', please dont come to the event as you are not welcome.
  7. Fed up of people banging on about how V8's are faster than your 300tdi? or do you think them 4 cylinders need one more to up the power to a Td5? Want to settle it once and for all? 'Grip' will be a Head to Head Race between anything with 4 wheels across off road terrain. The racing will be on 2 tracks with a cross over section meaning there is no waiting behind the 1st truck as they are stuck and pussy footing about. Its foot down, hold on and brown pants moment racing! Unlike British Dirt this will be suitable for all trucks although if you think it’s just over grass think again!!! Jumps, water, mud, dirt, sand, rocks will all be in the mix. 1st Low will keep your truck safe if that’s what you want, although the medals won’t be going home with you if that’s your driving style. This will be held at Tixover or Yarwell quarry (dates to be sorted) Who will be interested in settling what is the best power plant? V8, Td5, Tdi or even a rover Turbo? Sign up, give your ideas on what you want and we shall make it happen! Morning all, I am currently trying to get up a 'British Drt' style event slightly more North and for more people called 'Grip'. Pease follow this link to the Facebok page to have a read and add comments. http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/353781851355324/ Hope to see you all there.
  8. already been done. still no change thanks for that idea though, any more are welcome!
  9. a self prime (pump throttle 5 times and wait 5 mins) and she will fire up again. If you leave it over night or few a few days you need to do several self primes however... (although it seems to be getting harder and harder to start :S ) Surely someone wants some cash and a challenge? Really want it fixed sooner rather than later... Pete
  10. Hi, Who wants some extra cash? I have tray backed my Td5 90 and so had to move the tank. I have taken a 300tdi tank, welded up holes and made it so Td5 fuel pump fits tank however it wont run. Sometime I can get it running, and will will run and run and run sat still, but after a couple mins driving it cuts out. I think there is an air leak somewhere, as i cant work out why it would be anything else. Trouble is its a SORN challenge truck and no garage will touch it as 'they dont have time'. If someone would like to see if they can fix it, I will pay them for their help as I no longer have the time, energy or intrest in Land Rovers (its a sad day but once its fix it will be for sale ) If anyone is intrested in helping please E-mail me letsgopedro@hotmail.com or ring 01780 729284 (Located Rutland, (2 mins from Tixover Quarry.)) Many thanks, Pete ps, dont often use forum anymore so please ring or email.
  11. Hi, I have a Td5 (non Air con) and have added a 2nd alternator where the AC sits. I have removed pully to make it a better fit however the belt is now to short... I went to get a slightly longer one from John Craddocks and they suggested a non air con Td5 Disco might work... thats too big. What other belts can i try as the 2nd alternator can not be moved due to pipe work. Needs to be between Td5 defender and Td5 disco (what ever lenghts they are.) any suggestions would help. Pete
  12. Ah, also, if i fit 37x13 boggers without spacers turning circle will be poo, with spacers i wont fit through the trees... can radius arms be moved inside chassis or do they fowl things (like engine, steering bits or diff?) Thanks again Pete
  13. Old Topic I know, but I was wondering... What needs doing to move front axle forward? Move springs/shock mounts, move radius arms, and what about steering components? can they be twisted for 3 inch of movement? I want to do it as have a lovely winch bumper (thanks Carl) but attack angle is not enough. will tray back rear so dont need to worry about that, but dont want to move engine, Tbox, Gbox etc bak to sit winch inboard... just dont want to start and then get in over my head with moving EVERYTHING. Oh, also she doesnt go on the road much (2 miles to my local pay and play is plenty, otherwise she has a piggy back ride so 'road handling' isnt a problem. Many thanks Pete
  14. Hello everyone, I have a challenge truck 90 that is mainly truck cab at the mo, and due to stupid insurance costs (£1790) for me I have it off the road. As soon as I have the money to run both that and my everyday car I want both on the road, as my 1.2 106 wont pull it on a trailer I am also planning on tray backing it in a few months time and was wondering... What do you need/dont you need for a day time MOT...? Will it be alot easier to do? and cheaper? do you get cheaper road tax/insurance? I mainly want it on the road so i can drive to pay n plays, and green lanes trips as and when i feel like it, so dont need to drive at night (it would be handy but not vital) so would a day time MOT be worth it? what are people past experiences? Thanks, Pete
  15. done, that. sounds mean I still need to unplug the hi/low sensor from the T-box and the clutch sensor as people says this helps when off roading with more useable power, and sort the MAF out (changed it to try and imrpove the power as it use to be good, but now its horrible, but the new one made it worse) will all 'chips' work with my ECU then? or will i need a specific type for the earlier model? Thanks
  16. Hey, looking at different ways to get more power from my 1999 Td5. iv asked this before and ppl say remaps are best, chips not so. however looking into it I think a chip is the way forward as you can get them cheaper 2nd hand and then sell them if i dont like it, unlike a re-map. looking into them however people say that 1999-2002 the ECUs are non reprogramable, so does this means I cant remap it anyway? and will some chips not work with them? Also, if i bought a 2nd hand ECU that has been re-mapped and came from a 2002 onwards, would it work with a 1999 engine... im so confused. Why oh why didnt i stick with a tdi. so easy to work out! lol Thanks Pete (hope all that makes sense.)
  17. im waiting to be crushed as i can never be bothered to find 2 axle stands. bottle jack one side under chassis, axle stand other. trolly jack under diff so i can raise/lower axle as i need... however i do wobble to it buggery before crawling under it lol
  18. Hey, can anyone tell me the speed rating for simex ETs 35/10.5r16. Thanks, Pete
  19. yes. if you are 6ft (like Dave is) should be easy. im only little and can just about do it when the door tops are off
  20. yes, but look closely and you will see they are joined together. meaning you turn one, you turn off all 3. clever
  21. Hey, I have done my isolators like so... within reach of driver while wearing a seatbelt and kills winches and engine... Whats this about having them on the outside now...? Pete
  22. Huh? no idea. its 1999 Td5 (one for the 1st) so just a complete set of bearing, locking nut etc... nothing specail to replace other bits? Pete
  23. Hello boys and girls, I was my birthday yesterday so treated myself to some 2nd hand mach 5s with beadlocks and 35"simex. When i was fitting them i thought i had best check the wheel bearings. Glad I did. I can move 3 wheels almost an inch and the other isn't exactly tight... right, no problem, will tighten them up i though while i order the new ones... the back I have done before, so should be fine (i think) but the front i have never had to tighten. To cut a long story short, boy oh boy is that hub nut on tight on the front!!!! a) how the hell do you get it off as the hub nut spanner with the biggest srewdriver i can fit through it with some box on the end just bent the screw driver? b) when its off, can i convert back to the old style of wheel bearings?!?! If so how? what do i need to buy/replace? etc etc answer B might be more usefull as i can see im just going to have to go to a garage and get them to undo the hub nuts for me. Thanks, Pete
  24. haha, good effort, but might give that a miss, i know what would happen if i tried!
