  1. Hi All. Its time to put some new boots on the Disco. I only do about 6k a year. 3 or 4 moterway trips of about 70k each way plus towing a muck trailer across wet and muddy fields 2 or 3 times. The rest is local use. I am not going to buy tyres just because they are cheap but at the same time dont want to pay top wack. Any recommendations apprieciated. Wes
  2. Hi do you know the normal ride hieght with 18inch wheels fitted. Or centre of wheel to underside of wing. Thanks

    New HawkEye

Hi. Yes Idid drive it and the light did go out. I think I panicke a bit to early. Thanks for your comment.
  4. Thanks for that. To buy a pair of blocks costs about £102.00. So won't be doing that.
  5. Hi again. Has anyone made or know the dimensions of the air suspension calibration blocks? Thanks for looking.
  6. While playing with my new HawkEye I raised the suspension on my Disco 2 and now the raised suspension indicator will not go out. Have lowered the suspension to its normal ride height but indicator stas on. Any ideas appreciated. Moral of story. Don't press buttons until you are sure what they do
  7. Thanks for that. I was hoping the wiring would be in situ.
  8. Hi. Has anyone fitted power fold mirrors to a Disco 2? I already have electric mirrors but power fold would be great when getting through some of the gates i use when towing the muck trailer. Most of the parts seem to be available, just wondered whats involved.
  9. Hi all. I have to renew one of the the front wheel bearing assemblies on my DISCO 2. Looking at various suppliers theres a vast difference in prices ranging from just under £50.00 to over £200.0. Any recommendations on a mid range item? Thanks for looking. Wes
  10. I have 18inch wheels with255/55-R-18 tyres
  11. Hi Griff. Yes I`ve tried that and it seems ok. The ride is not bouncy like you get with dodgy shocks it seems hard to me, perhaps I`m expecting to much after reading about the "smooth" ride you get with air suspension. Wes
  12. Hi All. Have recently purchased a 2002 TD5 seven seater. Vehicle runs well but I find the ride very bumpy. Air suspension appears to be working ok. No leaks that i can find and pumps up and down in off road mode. Have not driven it fully loaded yet. Have towed a heavy trailer a couple of times with no problems. Is there any maintenance required on the ride height sensors? How smooth should the ride be.? Any comment appreciated. Wes
  13. Hi Divster. Thanks for reply. Was just going by the handbook which shows a high/low warning light and the symbol is on the dash but there is no light behind it. Wes
  14. Hi all. The High / Low ratio warning light is not showing on the dash of my Disco 2. The High / Low range works perfectly so am assuming its either the bulb gone or a problem with the acuator on the gearbox. Is the actuator accessible from under the vehicle or do I need to remove the trim inside? Also how easy is it to remove the dash panel to check the bulb? Still waiting for my workshop manual to arrive. Cheers, Wes.
  15. Hi. I am assuming so as the leads are in place under the seat and the head unit and column controls have the mode swich function. However will do a bit more checking. Thanks for the reply.
  16. Hi all. Ihave a 2002 Disco 2 with just a radio cassette player. Ive been looking for a cd autochanger to fit undwr the seat, The wiring is all there but all the changers ive found all have the wrong connections/plugs. I would be quite happy with a Radio / Single CD player as long as I can retain the steering wheel controls. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks Wes
  17. Thanks Griff. Will give him a try. Wes
  18. Hi All. Can any one tell me where I can get a door mirror motor for my Disco 2. It`s the one that fits in the mirror housing. They are not power fold mirrors. Tried all the usuall places with no success. Thanks in advance. Wes.
  19. I tend to agree with you Tanuki, in fact I have just ordered the OEM parts. As I said Ibelieve you get what you pay for. I was just interested to see what results anyone had had through using the cheaper option. I did buy some Lucas `type` points once and they disintergrated after about 10 miles.
  20. Hi all. I have to replace one of the rear disc brake calipers on my 90. Looking at the various suppliers there is quite a differrence in price ranging from £40 to £140. I think you get what you pay for but has anyone used the cheaper versions? Also can you still get ball joints with grease nipples. Thanks Wes.

    Disco 2

Hi all. Iam thinking about buying a Disco 2 TD5 ES. I am going to look at a1999 model one owner with 75k on the clock and full Landrover service history. Apart from making sure everything works what else should I look for? Where are the obvious and not so obvious rust spots.? Are the sun roofs still a problem area? Also am I right in thinking the timing is chain driven if so is there a chain replacement mlieage? One other thing, how easy is it to fit a tow bar? Any othe tips would be greatfully received. Whether I buy it or not depends on wether Ican steel myself to sell my trusty old 2.5 Petrol 90. Thanks in advance. Wes.
  23. Hi Fozsug. Many thanks for diagrams ,much appreciated and justb what I needed. In answere to Marrans question. I have a whine and vibration from the back axle in fifth gear at about 50 mph which gets progessivly worse. If I have to strip the axle the diagrams will be a good help.
  24. Many thanks fozsug. Just what I needed. Its very much appreciated. Wes.
  25. Hi all. I have a 1986 90 with a Disco 1 rear axle. I need to do some work on the axle but obviously my 90 parts book does not help. Could somebody scan or send copies of relavent pages including brakes from their Disco parts book. Will cover any postage and paper costs. My local parts supplier has closed down otherwise he would have lent me his book to copy. I only want the pages that show shafts and diff and one that shows the hub with brakes. If anyone can help I will put Email or address in my profile. Thanks in advance. Wes
