Hi all,can anyone throw any light on the following; -
Firstly I run a 1997 300tdi Disco Automatic.
Why does the "Check Engine Warning Light" stay illuminated once the engine is running and why does the vehicle have no power beyond, say 50mph?
When I start the vehicle from either Cold or Hot the engine starts instantly but revs to about 2000rpm for about 1 > 2 seconds then returns to a normal tick-over and the "Check Engine" warning light stays illuminated. The car pulls away quite well but once around 50mph has not much acceleration, there is now smoke on startup and kick down works fine upto the 50mph mark.
I would greatly appreciate any advice offered.
