  1. MRWOO, sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I was just wondering if you ever got to the bottom of your 5th gear noise. I have something similar, a kind of grating/ringing noise, only in 5th gear when its under load, which has been going on since I bought my truck nearly 2 years ago. It's not got any worse in that time and has not got any better since changing all the transmission fluids. I want to get it sorted because I don't want it to go bang leaving me miles away from home, but I'm just wondering if there's anything else I can check before I go down the expensive new gearbox route.
  2. It'll need resyncing with your alarm system. You could take it to a Land Rover specialist, which will probably be expensive, or find someone near to you with a Nanocom or something similar who can do it for you. It is literally a 30 second job, so how some of these garages can justify charging people 40 quid or more to do it is beyond me.
  3. I'd be interested to know if any of you have noticed much of a drop in your mpg when using your Webasto's. I've recently fitted one, but at the same time I fitted a Disco transfer box and I haven't sorted the speedo drive gear out yet, which means I can't work out my mpg properly. Have you found them to be very thirsty?
  4. I run mine off an auxiliary battery fed by a split charge system, so I don't need to worry about battery drain, however I'm sure I've read somewhere that thermotop C's have an safety feature where they cut out before your battery gets too low to crank the engine.
  5. I've got a full loom for my heater now except all the wires in it are grey. I've worked out where everthing needs to go except for two wires from the relay that connect to the vehicle's blowers. I just need to know which wires on the truck I need to splice them into.
  6. One final question; how did you tap into the fuel tank. I've seen that you need to clip the end off the "nipple" on the fuel pump, but I'm not sure if I need to buy one of the webasto/eberspacher fuel pickups or if I can just slide some 5mm stiff fuel line into it and fix it to the nipple with rubber hose and jubilee clips.
  7. It doesn't attach to the heater in any way, according to the instructions, is just fitted to the thin tube between the expansion tank and the radiator.
  8. Thanks a million, those pictures tell me just about everything I need to know. One final thing though; on the TD5 specific instructions I have (written in German) there is a "no return valve" fitted on the line to the vehicle's expansion tank. I can't see it on yours, so is it unneccessary? It seems pointless to me, but the word "ACHTUNG!" above it makes me wonder.
  9. I'm just about to embark on Installing a Webasto Thermo top C in my TD5 90, after I've removed it from a Rover 75. My main worry is the fuel feed, as I don't like the sound of having to remove the fuel tank. I'm considering possibly an aux fuel tank for it, but does anyone have any other ideas? The dedicated TD5 installation instructions would be really handy as well if anyone has a copy.
  10. Have you had any success with this? I'm in the same boat as you were and information about it is very scarce.
