  1. Hi: I have been following this discussion, and would like to clear up some confusion I have. My leveller is shot, and I have installed red/red on the rear left-hand side, and green/red on the rear right-hand side. Will this combination of rear springs make up for and replace my dead leveller unit? Thanks Mike
  2. Hi...I am putting a 4.6 liter in my LHD 4.6 1985 110. I have been searching for a good set of headers, but it is difficult to sort out. Moreover, I have read here a number of different threads, and these threads make mention of various brands, but when I go to these brands websites the headers are not even listed. Can anyone tell me what the best headers are and where to purchase them? Thx Mike
  3. ok,,well that is good to know/hear. Now for the hardest part, and that is where can I but these bits? I have contacted Richard's and a couple of other shops which offer new chassis, but they say that they do not build the chassis themselves, and are therefore unable to supply the chassis-side mounts. I have also contacted a couple of breakers-yards and to say that I am being put at the bottom of their list is an understatement, even though I will pay for them to go out and simply cut that bit away and courier to me... So, does anyone know of an old V8 chassis and a guy with a cutting torch who will do this for payment?? thanks

Hi: I am placing a 4.6 where a 2.25 used to fit, and I am needing information regarding the mounts. 1) does the 4.6 block have the same bolt-hole pattern as the 3.5, and therefore would the 3.5 liter engine mounts fit the 4.6? 2) if the 3.5 mounts will fit the 4.6, then will it mate nicely with the V8 engine mounts welded to the frame? If all the above works, does anyone have a set of engine and frame mounts they can sell to me? Thanks very much....
  6. Jurriaan: yes, I have a dash exactly like the one you are showing,,,(actually I like your gauges!) I am in Qatar and will eventually drive the vehicle to my home in Nova Scotia, but in the meanwhile I need a very good a/c. Also, I am fitting a 4.6 liter GEMS where the 2.25 used to be, and I need a full set of engine mounts,,,the mounts that bolt to the engine, and the side that is welded to the frame..
  7. Hi...I am rebuilding a 1985 110 - LHD and the heater-a/c is completely rotted out. I have been reading several threads on here but none are answering my questions straight. I apoligise for starting a new thread on this but it would be wonderful to get some exact answers... First, would any other year Land Rover unit fit in easily? Second, is there a definitive answer as to what aftermarket system would work extremely well, and would fit easily? Third, what BTU amount would work well? I am in the desert and I have no idea if 17,000 BTUs would suffice? Thanks Mike

  9. First, I would like ot thank everyone for their tips so far, but I feel that I need to put you to the test further. As I stated before, I am stuck in the middle of a desert and I am determined to drive away from here with anexcellent machine. Ok, my 110 willnever me rock-climbing, or getting its paint scratched. I have a Chevy at home in Nova Scotia that is purpose built for that. This will be used on the farm for easy stuff, but primarily highway. I will list the areas below for your advice: 1) Suspension - I am planning to use standard height, heavy duty springs and shocks. All tie rod ends, ball joints will be relaced Where to find the best ones?? What companies make the best products? 2) Engine - I am converting a GEMS 4.6 litre (new Turner top hat with 400k on it) to non-GEMS. What particular Megasquirt ECU do I but? I see 3 models,,,what is the best for me? What do I purchase with the Megasquirt to make it work? Do I match this with a Hotwire system? what year and from what vehicle? Exhaust - What is the best exhaust system for this application? I have read about different manifolds and different bores, but I need to be able to order a specific system froma specific vendor
  10. Hi: I am starting my full rebuild of a 4 cylinder 1985 110 in Qatar. Plans are to drive the completed vehicle to London, via Moscow, in a couple of years. I am a Canadian, who did not grow up with 110s, and advice in Qatar is very difficult to come by, and when it does its "sandy". I have a rebuilt 4.6 from Turners (its presently sitting in my 1998 RR), a R380 and hi-ratio transfer case from Ashcrofts. But I do need some advice on the following: 1) what differentials can I swap in? Do Discovery differentials fit in easily? 2) I want to get rid of the GEMS system,,,what do you folks think is the best alternative? 3) What can I replace the front seats with? do Discovery ones fit?? I have many more questions to ask, but these will do for now....I will keep a running log I think with a pictorial history. Any other advice is most welcome for additions/corrections to the original vehicle etc. etc.....this is the time to plan for changes. Thanks very much Mike
