I've just had mine done at JE Engineering, complete with gas flowed intercooler.
Fantastic pick up. Pulls like a train. Cruises up steep hills on the A34 at 70mph all day long.
It's meant to add about 35-40BHP on top of the auto's 120BHP.
The downside is £650 plus VAT.
Just had a look at the J E site and it specifically says manual fuel pump, is yours manual or electronic control?

I've been looking at trying to get a little more power out of my disco but when I took a look at the fuel pump it looks like its an electronic controlled one not a manual one. If I'm correct I'm guessing that the only way to tune is to chip, if so how / who can do it and whats the cost?

As Bogmonster says, changing the transfer box will only effect the high range (on road) gearing, so in low range it will still feel like it doesn't have enough engine breaking going down steep hills.
I found that the 1.4:1 ratio defender box returned the gearing to almost standard when running 33" tyres, making it much nicer to drive on road. I will ultimately be going for different Ring/Pinion ratio and returning to the 1.2:1 ratio transfer box so as to get the gearing correct in both high and low.
Pete.
Cheers for the info, just out of interest do you know of any issues with engaging the diff, the last time it was used was in December but since then I’ve been doing a lot of motorway miles.

I'm currently running a 300tdi 97 plate auto Discovery and want to look at bringing the gearing back to normal. I know you can change the crown and pinion gears to lower the gearing but I've also heard of people swapping the transfer box with a defender one as they run lower gearing. Firstly is that true and if so does it lower both high and low box gearing or just the low side?

I'm currently looking into running my 300tdi disco on biodiesel and to stop any confusion I mean biodiesel not vegetable oil as that has problems with winter temperatures. I’ve found a place on the A34 just outside Cannock which I believe sells biodiesel, has anybody used them before and what’s been your experience of using them?

But the most common reasion for it no working is split vacuum hose ends, so locate the hose tee piece behind the washer bottle a trace the hose in each direction. If you have to cut a split ends off, wrap a few laps of electrical tape around and it won't happen again.
I remember seeing a split pipe just off a T section, thoughts it was a washer jet pipe initally, will investigate more thanks for the advise.

Many thanks for the info, will try the ebc pads first as thats fairly cheap and an easy mod to try.

Hi all I've just bought my first 300 tdi auto disco 98 plate which is running 33s, currently I find it's brakes aren't great and was wondering what can be done to improve them other than change the pads and disks. Are the V8 calipers bigger and will they fit onto the 300tdi running 15" wheels?

Hi all, I’ve been having issues with getting my disco running when it's cold, I've changed the glow plugs so it shouldn't be those. The car turns over but just keeps winding over without actually firing. I've got my suspicions that it's the starter motor but can't be sure, is there a specific way of testing each area of the starting system?
