  1. Frankly everything is up for silly money at the moment. Whilst they sell it can only continue but there must be a "correction" coming soon surely. It can't just keep going.
  2. There's a thread here about shipping Cape Town to UK. http://forum.lro.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=54880 doable I'd imagine but a bit of a drive from Botswana first though.
  3. Ancient thread but I may need a new abs pump for my soft dash lse. Classic ones seem few and far between and/or v expensive. So will a P38 one fit? Like this? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-P38-ABS-BRAKE-PUMP-ACCUMMULATOR-Very-Good-Condition-/231187680791?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Plat_Gen%3AMK+II|Model%3ARange+Rover&hash=item35d3dc0e17 or maybe a discovery one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-DISCOVERY-3-9LTR-V8-ABS-PUMP-/261312346206?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Plat_Gen%3AMK+II|Model%3ARange+Rover&hash=item3cd76df85e
  4. Photo worked just fine. That's a long way south, I suppose shipping from SA is about the only option.
  5. A bit slow on the uptake! Pictures please.
  6. Snagger, Sounds very interesting. Softdash LSE from OF are very rare. I recall 3 I think. Certainly needs saving although it depends what OF bits it has/had and what is still left.
  7. My 4,2 lse is on gas and I wouldn't have it any other way. They aren't near Wakefield but Blaze autogas here in wiltshire run their own lpg rr and do seem to know what theyr're on about.
  8. Just had a quick poke as its stood for 24 hrs. Viscous fan is freer but frankly there isn't a massive difference. Switch AC on and it engages and cools but both fans do start but then gradually stop again over 30 secs or so. Seems a bit odd? I had hoped to simply check for power at the connector and then power the fans remotely to see where the issue is but maybe not. V8F - daytime no but evening/later it can take a while. I appreciate mods do have a life away from the forum but sometimes the aim is to catch the evening crowd. Ah well. What's the post requirement just so I know.
  9. The AC works fairly well. Not quite as effectively as newer cars but it kept me cool yesterday. I'll check whether its the fans at fault or the supply. I'm in Swindon too. How long before I'm off this wretched mods list?
  10. 94 lse Coming home tonight, ac on full and for the first time ever I noticed the temp gauge creeping up. Its never gone beyond the central mark before. Switched ac off, windows open heater on full and by the time I was home (10mins of driving) back to normal. Ran the engine on the drive for 5 mins and stable gauge - ac not on though. Checked the viscous fan- engine still quite warm and I can turn the fan by hand, definite resistance and I can't spin it. It hasn't got cold yet. Tried the newspaper test, engine warmed again and no way is a paper going to stop the fan. So all ok? Now the fans just behind the grill are the ac fans correct? Aren't these supposed to come on when the ac is switched on? First check the L fan was turning just, second check both still. So how should they work? I suspect these ac fans and that all else is ok and that its only in these extreme conditions that a problem has come up. Anyone got any thoughts?
  11. We (as in local garage) are having an issue here. Replaced a section of brake pipe and one rear caliper bleeds fine but the other just won't. Pipes are clear but nothing comes through from the abs system so no pressure in that side and no rear brake. Any ideas what is going wrong?
  12. Thanks. I'll see if I can get it apart as the rest of the system works and manually operating the drivers side will lock/unlock the rest.
  13. The old one is like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Range-Rover-Classic-N-S-R-Door-Central-Locking-Solenoid-to-fit-1994-/390484040987?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5aeaa99d1b and the replacement like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Range-Rover-Classic-LSE-Central-locking-motor-O-S-R-to-fit-1986-1993-/390389685240?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5ae509dbf8 I've left the old one on the car so when it gets a bit warmer I'll get it apart again and have alook at the wires
  14. My drivers Cl has given up. Took the door card off and if you manually pull/push the arm to operates the other doors too but will not operate itself. I'm assuming the unit itself has died and its sealed so get another. Bought one of ebay of the correct fitting only to be sent the wrong one and it turned out they didn't actually have the right one. I guess they hoped I wouldn't notice except it won't connect up! They did give a refund and I still have the other one. Question is can I just whip the connectors off each or are they actually different. I've learnt that mine will always be the more electrically complicated! Mine has the 5 wire block connector whereas the other is the more bullet type which is the same as the wing mirrors.
  15. Indeed, always worth a try. Now just got to fix the other niggly issues. The "new" drivers wing mirror that white van man had smashed off last winter. Fitted and all worked fine. 24hrs later nothing works! So it'll have to come off again. Drivers side CL actuator had failed. Very carefully ordered one with the correct electrical attachment from ebay (a well known LR/RR co on there) to find they sent the wrong one and now don't have the right one so back to square one! Much though I love it it is by far the worst put together car of that era I have had. Still after a good bodyshop in Wiltshire. One to try towards Abingdon but nothing closer to Swindon it seems.
  16. Just for future searches. Symptoms got worse until enetring the code made the HU freeze and then finally no reaction from the on/off button. Thought I'd just try disconnecting the battery for a minute or so and see if anything would reset. Hey presto back to normal (so far!) All working as it was. Hopefully it will stay that way.
  17. Thanks, they are still there I believe and its only just up the road if all else fails!
  18. My OEM Clarion radio seems to have cgone up the swannee. Suddenly it keeps asking for the code and when entered I jsut get a pop from the rear sub and the it goes off again. Clearly power to the HU and occasionally I get a TUN ER98 error code on the radio. It will play the CD but very quietly. I'm guessing there is an issue with the rear sub and amplifier but that doesn't seem to suggest why the radio doesn't work. Thoughts? Thanks David
