[Alas no. Another weekend trying to sort it out but to no avail, my mate came round to have a look on Sunday but he couldn't sort it, the engine tries to fire but doesn't run we think that may be a sensor has gone down so something. I will have to call up a mobile diagnostic to come round and have a look I hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. We tried your ideas thanks but they didn't work, thanks anyway. Yes its that great engine the K series ughhhhh! Well I have checked again and everything is the right way round, I will try the oil trick, a friend of mine towed me to get it to start, it did fire up after a while and ticked over for a while but no throttle response, clouds of white smoke, then it died again, it tries to fire but wont keep going, I have got a friendly mechanic who will look at it tomorrow, I hope he can sort it, its really infuriating after a the work I've done and it not starting. Hi there everyone, could somebody please help me before I scream, I had experienced the hg failure last week, this was caused by the water pump failing, the impeler blades spining on the shaft. Anyway, i took everything apart using Les' fantastic descriptions and photos, I had the head skimmed, have changed the gasket, changed water pump, changed the moded thermostat, changed belts, changed spark plugs, filters ect. Now its all back together but it wont start, timing is spot on, the engine turns over fine tries to fire but doesn't catch what should I do next has anybody had this problem before, its driving me mad. Thanks in advance for your thoughts. JD
