  1. Try Heritage, Lancaster didn't want to offer me a renewal on my 110 (and no, no mods or claims !)
  2. have a look at the series 3 90-110 club website, here's the link to their shop http://www.ekmpowershop18.com/ekmps/shops/series3owners/books-17-c.asp
  3. I used to have the same symptoms on my toyota corolla d4d, it only had 40k. Turned out to be a couple of injectors. HTH
  4. 135k here, owned abused by a previous pikey owner... Still running with a couple of new conrods as they were bent, head, turbo and lift pump (and it still made it from Lincolnshire to Switzerland without a breakdown). Breathes heavily but alright for a weekend toy. You know the saying : If it ain't broke...
  5. I've been insured with Lancaster for the last 5 years and this year at renewal they said their underwriters criterias had changed and they were no longer able to provide me with insurance for the coming year. I'm 30, earned 5 years NCD on that policy, didn't make any claims. (10 years NCD on my other car's policy !) . Got a 110 hardtop 2.5td 19j with very little mods and 3k a year, was paying 400. Gone with heritage now, 240 fully comp for the same coverage... Just no consistency in between insurers or brokers in the way they calculate premiums or set their criterias !
  6. Might be stating the obvious here but is the ecu being powered up (ie getting it's 12v feed)? You could potentially have a wiring fault.
  7. Try the 4x4 solutions in Ashford (kent) old LR experience site with instructors I can recommend.
  8. My F'reg 110 hardtop with HD suspension (from factory, 3500kg gvw registered as light 4x4 utility) has been MOT'd as a class 4 for the last couple of years. It hasn't got windows in the back. When I queried it with the MOT station they said that when they entered the details in the DVLA system that's what it came as. It used to be class 7 3 years ago...
  9. I'm going to line the roof with the egg shell style mats from noise killer, tested it at billing a couple of years back and it was quite impressive. The rest will probably be done with fatmat, or the noise killer 110 hardtop kit. I'll source some nitromors then ! Looking forward to do the roof... Thanks for your advice
  10. Hi, The previous owner of my 110 thought that the inside of the panels would rust so applied uneven coats of hammerite inside (please, don't go there ). I would appreciate advice on removing that scruffy carp paint from the roof and side panels (it's a hardtop and multi coloured inside!) as I'm planning to insulate the whole lot this summer. It's half peeling off and don't fancy wasting expensive self adhesive materials for it to peel off a week later !!! I haven't got the luxury of a driveway (might be able to borrow a drive in shed!), would the old paint stripper (decapant in french, gluppy stuff and pretty messy/toxic) stuff do the job with the roof in place or should I go convertible for a few days? Cheers
  11. Guys, many thanks for your advice. I'm going to buy it, change the cambelt, water pump and rear crank oil seal prior to fitting it and go from there. It looks like it's been well maintained, got fresh filters and all the fluids look decent. It's got a slight leak from the rocker cover gasket but nothing like my current one!!!
  12. I'd love to rebuild it but I don't think I have the skills. I'm borrowing a mate's shed for the install as I only have a communal parking at home! It seems to run really well and smokes far less than my 19J (which is not hard). I'm thinking it must have had some sort of rebuild during that 250k for it to not smoke that much... The only problem is that I can't test drive it as it has a snapped clutch fork. Quite tempted to rebuild it, what would be the way to go? I'm thinking new pistons, rings, honing the bores, new oil pump and possibly have a gas flowed exchange head from turners. Maybe have the injectors and pump tested? I'm hesitating to just fit the engine as is and do the necessary work once it's in my 110 (it's a weekend toy after all). Obviously while it's out fit a new cambelt kit, rear crank seal and water pump. Cheers
