  2. Bottom one rated at 120 degc there are specs but i cant find them again Lynall
  3. Here http://www.deeter.co.uk/deeter/sc/categori...p;categoryId=14 Bit dear with carriage or am i just being mean? Lynall
  4. Go to local body shop and see what they use the double sticky tape is good as you only get one chance once its on its stuck full stop, Sikaflex is good its in a tube like a silicone tube takes a while to cure fully though. Lynall
  5. So long as the vanes atre not rubbing the casing it is okay, what happens is shaft collapses or the seal becomes so worn the engine oil is pumped into the engine and the engine tuns on its own oil and you cannot stop it, to stop it bonnet up air filter lid off and big bundle of rag into inlet pipe, no air = no run.# My car has done 103k and turbo has play but its okay. Lynall
  6. Rotational play? loads on the front and about half as much on the back. Not very techy i know but been the same on all 4 of my discos. Minimal lift in the output flanges, if seals not leaking the flange lift is prob okay. Has the transfer box been off? Lynall
  7. I love it when people say TD5 to complicatd buy a TDI forgetting since 96 all TDI auto were full edc system and some manuals so just as complicatd as TD5 but no easy diagnostic kit available like the Nanocom for the TD5. Nanocom is excellent by the way £200 from Bearmach Td5 dont rot bidywise well not like the 300 the chassis are susceptible though so a waxoyl is a must. Even a std TD5 is a much nicer drive than a TDI, chip it and you are really going and if you have ACE you dont have to slow down for the corners! Main thing would be coolant loss but this could be the head gasket, cooling system very complicated compared to TDI set up Had mine 3.5 years been a good car. Lynall
  8. What i have done in the past and still do at work is to dot punch the whole of the outside of the bush, not so hard as to damage the inside of the bush and then fit it with loctite. Lynall
  9. Very cramped in the back for large child or an adult and as said legal stuff regarding kids. Only thing to watch on hire car is the excess as it will prob be more than the hire charge for the whole period you are here. Lynall
  10. Three clicks dont matter any more so long as the lever has reserve travel. I would look at the prop universal joints first asap! grip them and twist them any movement means new joint required. Lynall
  11. Nanocom brilliant £200 Bearmach Maidstone, saved me £100 first time clearing and diagnosing a fault. Lynall
  12. Go to a hydraulics supplier and get two 1/4 bsp taps with 90 deg action handle screw into holes and a quick flick and its sealed ready for action, front one needs an extension to clear the sump 1/4 bsp male to female about 2 " long from memory. Lynall
  13. Depends how old car is early 300 had what they came with full stop, later 300 had most of the wiring in place for everything about 96ish onwards. Lynall
  14. The list will only get longer trust me! mines also 2001 and 103k Injector wiring loom cost less than £40 cheaper on e-bay and takes less than 1 hour to fit. Remove the engine undertray to confirm where the coolant is leaking from plenty of pipes under there. Mine is leaking from the core plug between cylinders 4 and 5 exhaust side my first job tomorrow morning, whole of nearside of the engine has red stains all over it cant wait. From what i have read just the sensor on its own will not cure the problem need the whole hub as said. Lynall
  15. Just buy a egr blamk plate from e-bay. My manual does 25mpg ish did same before i chipped it. Less if you thrash it and 27/7on a run. Some people get over 30mpg but i havent got the time or the inclination to try ie im a lazy git and just want to get there now. Lynall
  16. I have just looked at the wiring diagram in the rave cd i would recomend you buy one of e-bay and have a good read! Lynall
  17. Its just a cable and if you have the rave cd the settings are in there. Also settings for the cruise cable which takes a lot of the up and down out of the system and makes it a lot nicer. Lynall Lynall
  18. Nowt there just rear light wiring plus the wiring you need to check, most likely place to fail is in the rubber gaiter between the body and the tailgate. You will need to pull the wiring out and check it for breaks/chaffing. No relay its in the bcu, dont forget also switchs the heated mirrors on so could be mirror fault or associated wiring, had any knocks on the mirrors lately? drivers side first as thats the most opened door. Lynall
  19. Never used to on mine ever! just the oil. Lynall
  20. From memory its double skinned at the rear pillars an you not feed it up the gap?then pop it out near one of the back door hinges. Lynall
  21. Use a measuring jug to drain the old oil into less than 5 will come out, clean out jug and put exact same amount back in again and go for a drive then repeat and it should be pretty clean, measuring what comes out makes life a lot easier and takes all the guess work out of it and saves a lot of time. Wife has had a couple of mercs and they also have a drain bung on the torque convertor. Lynall
  22. My seats have always had a little bit of play in them and have been the same for the last 3.5 years. Remote about £80 ish then need programming on top so prob about £150 ish! Engine running all doors shut push and hold button for a couple of seconds and it should go up, i exercise mine every now and then to keep it in fine fettle Lynall
  23. For wiring info get the rave cd Lynall
  24. Sunlight mess,s with the bonding in the dash and the soft trim lifts up off the hard dash itself and looks ****, you can buy repair kits for about £50 that hold down the lifting bit with some screws. Only happens on 300 model Lynall
  25. Fitting them shouldnt be to hard but you have to have testbook or nanocom to bleed them up afterwards. Lynall
