  1. I removed my roof in the summer...It was fun whilst it lasted, but the time's come for e to take it out of the garage, take the tarpaulin off and put the roof back on. Problem is, I've lost all the bits I need to reattach the roof. Does anyone have a list of what parts I need to order?
  2. And fitting? Am I right in thinking the whole turbo unit needs taking out?
  3. ...is leaking. Is this an MOT failure? Does it HAVE to be replaced?
  4. When I turn the key, I just get a click...I think it may be the starter motor sticking but not sure. It's happened before and I can normally roll the whole vehicle forward and back a little and it'll start again. No such luck this time!! Any ideas??
  5. I've had some embarassing moments trying to overtake lorries in my TD. V embarassing when you have to give up when you're halfway past and then all the cars behind you go past laughing!!
  6. A kind chap on here has put me in touch with someone who's got an axle for £90! It's a Disco 1 axle so I believe I need different radius arms? (Mine's a 1990 90 TD) On a scale of 1 to 10, how difficult is an axle swap, including bleeding the brakes etc? Does anyone local to Evesham/Tewkesbury fancy helping/showing me the way for a few beers?
  7. Or... Do I spend £600-£800 on a TDi Disco, getting 2 better axles and a better engine and scrap the rest of it and my old parts on eblag...?
  8. Well, the ratchet handle broke off when I used one of these http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/...ets/brand/irwin - the bolts aren't budging. The calipers are rusted to buggery anyway by the looks of things so I think I'm best just replacing the axle. Equicar can do me an axle for £250 delivered. Otherwise will keep an eye out on eBay - there's a few around at the moment. Delivery is the issue though!
  9. Never had a problem starting it. OK it takes a few seconds and then a few seconds cranking but I know it'll start
  10. That's a good reason not to get a cubby box instead of a seat - I bet it's a bugger to take out!!
  11. Well, it's a 2.5TD - I guess the light isn;t supposed to go out on it's own accord then! Will check bulbs etc. Cheers
  12. My diff lock light doesn't come on... My heater plug ligh never goes out when the key's held before starting. I just have to hold it for a few seconds
  13. So how many rescues have Defender drivers done over the last couple of days in the snow? I pulled a Golf out of a ditch yesterday with an old series 3 with v small tyres couldn't manage. Later towed a van up a slippy hill. Was 3 hours late for work in the end and then we were all told to leave half an hour later! One thing I noticed was the drivers of new (mainly Japanese) 4X4s whizzing along, thinking they can get away with overtaking at 40/50 in the snow and not even comtemplating stopping to help people.
  14. A very basic question I know. What is safe to use as a jacking point? Where would you put (an) axle stand(s) Any pics would be welcome!!
  15. Can someone show me a link of where the diagphrams are available from? Maye with a pic as they showed me the broken one
  16. Thanks Les!! (and everyone else) I'll go with flow, let them fit the diaphragm and see how it goes
  17. Anyone local to GL20 who knows what they''re doing and fancies helping for a couple of beers?
  18. So...on top of the fuel tank issue...The garage have now told me that the bolts holding the calipers on are stripped and they can;t get them out without possibly many many hours work. Either I pay a few hundred quid for labour for them to be rebuilt (one of the hub seals is leaking onto the brake disk too so it needs doing!) or I get a new front axle (£300 from a 1998 110) and they fit that. How easy is the fitting of an axle? Could I do it with some help?
  19. So the breather breathes in AND out then?
  20. I wouldn't know where to start though and these guys are not going to look at the breather because they say that's not the problem. Also they say that as the tank's pressurising it will go pop at some stage
  21. I've been down there to see them and they're adament that it's what they said. The diaphragm in the pump. I think it is actually blowing rather than sucking as I've had diesel blown onto me before!
  22. No - i think it's being sucked instead of blown
