I removed my roof in the summer...It was fun whilst it lasted, but the time's come for e to take it out of the garage, take the tarpaulin off and put the roof back on.
Problem is, I've lost all the bits I need to reattach the roof.
Does anyone have a list of what parts I need to order?
When I turn the key, I just get a click...I think it may be the starter motor sticking but not sure. It's happened before and I can normally roll the whole vehicle forward and back a little and it'll start again. No such luck this time!! Any ideas??
I've had some embarassing moments trying to overtake lorries in my TD. V embarassing when you have to give up when you're halfway past and then all the cars behind you go past laughing!!
A kind chap on here has put me in touch with someone who's got an axle for £90!
It's a Disco 1 axle so I believe I need different radius arms? (Mine's a 1990 90 TD)
On a scale of 1 to 10, how difficult is an axle swap, including bleeding the brakes etc?
Does anyone local to Evesham/Tewkesbury fancy helping/showing me the way for a few beers?
Well, the ratchet handle broke off when I used one of these

- the bolts aren't budging. The calipers are rusted to buggery anyway by the looks of things so I think I'm best just replacing the axle.
Equicar can do me an axle for £250 delivered. Otherwise will keep an eye out on eBay - there's a few around at the moment. Delivery is the issue though!
So how many rescues have Defender drivers done over the last couple of days in the snow?
I pulled a Golf out of a ditch yesterday with an old series 3 with v small tyres couldn't manage. Later towed a van up a slippy hill. Was 3 hours late for work in the end and then we were all told to leave half an hour later!
One thing I noticed was the drivers of new (mainly Japanese) 4X4s whizzing along, thinking they can get away with overtaking at 40/50 in the snow and not even comtemplating stopping to help people.
So...on top of the fuel tank issue...The garage have now told me that the bolts holding the calipers on are stripped and they can;t get them out without possibly many many hours work. Either I pay a few hundred quid for labour for them to be rebuilt (one of the hub seals is leaking onto the brake disk too so it needs doing!) or I get a new front axle (£300 from a 1998 110) and they fit that.
How easy is the fitting of an axle? Could I do it with some help?
I wouldn't know where to start though and these guys are not going to look at the breather because they say that's not the problem.
Also they say that as the tank's pressurising it will go pop at some stage
I've been down there to see them and they're adament that it's what they said. The diaphragm in the pump.
I think it is actually blowing rather than sucking as I've had diesel blown onto me before!
