  1. Thanks all once again, I am not worried about working on the car as I fix things all day long being a printing company maintainance engineer and have always had a fiddle with cars and always done my own servicing, MOT work etc. It is mainly the cost of the parts as things are always tight and don't want to be spending cash on a car I have just bought!! But I am not put off by this! At the end of the day, nothing is terminal if it does go wrong! (Excluding, crashes, explosions etc...)
  2. Hi, I am not yet the proud owner of a landrover product! I am still getting the finances sorted (£2-£3500ish). I have took some advice from this forum and although the disco is a great car and it has 7 seats. I still like the look of the rangerover inside and out and find myself nearly snapping my neck of every time I drive past one at the minute!! But, what is the air suspension really like? Do they all break, or just some or when I get a used 2.5DSE will it already have been fixed? What are the tell tell signs it is a piece of ****??? i know they are said to be the king of off roading, but for what I do, the Frontera I have now gets me where I want so anything else is a bonus!! Also what size tyres do the rangerovers have between 1994-1997 ish and what are the best A/T tyres? And are they all called P38 in that age range? PS) Can't wait till I get a landrover, pics to follow!!!
  3. is not quite a landrover owner!!!

  4. I will be on here loads and loads, I just need a landrover now. But had fun in the Frontera tonight towing cars up the hill near my village, ohh the joy, I love it!!!!! lol
  5. It is sounding like I will be getting a disco, have seen some nice ones around, 300tdi around 1996-1998 for around £3000-£3500. Most have full service history. I do not need an all out off road machine, but one that is good for it if I want it, the Frontera actually done great the few times I have been, so the disco being better will be fine. I have the Kumho at tyres on the frontera and they seem ok, I like the look of the General AT2 tyres???? Do all the disco's have a locking centre diff? I won't really be doing any towing as such, apart from family members that break down or get stuck in mud when turning around in a sloped entry to a field, that has happened!!! Basically although I wont be off roading every day of the week, I like to know in my mind that what ever the weather, I can go anywhere!!
  6. I knew I wanted a landrover, I just needed to hear some more good stuff about them. I think it will be the disco, just have to wait for the money now!! I will look out for rust as that seems to be the main issue.
  7. All good points made there. I am not afraid of working on a car myself as have always done so, and have a welder at work and quite a few spanners etc!!! But I would like not to be (even though I secretly enjoy it, something about fixing cars, must me a man thing!!!). I like the fact there is a lot of support out there and there is a good landrover specialist Rockingham landrovers less than 2 miles from me, but do they need all this support? Is that a bad thing!!!!??? I have considered keeping the Frontera as a pure off roader as it is still a decent car, 150k on the clock but with a new clutch, alternator, starter motor etc, but I don't have the storage space, plus the £500ish I'd get for trading in is most handy!! What is the space like in a Rangerover with numerous children? By the way my children are, nearly 5, 3 and 0!! Hopefully I will have the money next week, so hope to have my mind made up by then and then will find the right car, do not mind travelling 100-150 miles for a good one! Any more advice much appreciated, or maybe a weekend swap of cars!!!??
  8. Basically got a Frontera at the min. Need something bigger and better, ie rangerover/disco. I have 3 kids. I like off roading. Which is best as I have also lokked at shoguns etc. i need re-convincing that landrover is best please!!! Also comments on ground clearance of all 3 will be welcome, wheel articulation and diff locks as the shogun also has a rear one?????? Sorry this post is written basic as it is the 3rd time I have done it due to internet connection problems!!!!
  9. Hi all. I need your help to convince me to get a disco than (dare I say it?) a Shogun or Landcruiser. Basically I currently have a 94 reg Frontera which to be honest has been great, and had a few plays off road. But I need something larger for now having 3 children. Depending on how it goes I will have between 2 and 3.5 grand to spend plus maybe £500 for the Frontera. I would like a few more off road experiences and am a bit torn as where to go! This is where you come in . If it is a Disco, how do kids and their car seats get on with the fold down boot seats? I look forward to your posts! Thanks
