  1. If you want to stay on the island of Ireland why not check out BLRC (Belfast Land Rover Centre) who are actually based in Saintfield, Co Down. I can't claim to have a lot of experience with them but friends say they are great. I did get a quarter chassis on my 90 replaced and it looks like a very tidy job. Only downside seems to be having to wait up to 2 months to get booked in but I suppose being busy means they must be doing something right. John
  2. Yes, drain hole is pointless in current position. I had no idea such a simple, low cost part could be messed up so much - I would have bought a better set if I'd realised. Oh well, you live and learn. Thanks for comments.
  3. I like the 'halo' idea - I'll give that a go. I assume you are just using domestic electrical copper wire. Many thanks for your help. John
  4. Can anyone help with this problem? I have an early 90 with replacement Wipac rear Side/Stop lights. The problem I'm having is that the plastic bulb holder is hopeless (or the spring is too good) and the bulb keeps popping out of it's socket and ends up lying helplessly in the red bowl cover. This isn't restricted to off-road use - it happens going over minor road bumps. I've already replaced one side and it has exactly the same problem - do they not make these things with metal or ceramic inserts like the good ole days? Many thanks for any help! John
  5. Many thanks guys. I'll let it find its own level and then leave to see what happens. John
  6. As a brand new Land Rover owner I am still grappling with some of the fundamentals and would like some advice on a really silly query. I have a 1985 LR 90 with power steering. The power steering reservoir seems to be a very early one (and not as indicated in the Haynes manual) and I have fluid flowing all over the engine because I don't know how full it should be. Basically, there are no level markings on the reservoir so I have filled it up to the top. The fluid therefore spills out the top while driving. The last owner seemed to do the same and I figure that too much fluid is better than too little. Would anyone be able to advise on this point? (The reservoir is a metal type with metal screw on lid and a rubber seal below the lid.) Many thanks!! John
