  1. In addition to the improvised explosive device that was hidden in the engine bay of my new 90, it arrived without a shift knob. The only ones that I can find in my local auto supply place are chromed skulls! Those billiard balls look much better!
  2. Thanks guys. I've got a good friend (retired civil engineer and general fixer of anything) who says he'd be happy to re-wire the 90 for me. I'll get it to his shop and report back here with my results.
  3. Another question that betrays my ignorance: How do I determine the output of my alternator? Also, am I correct in thinking that I'll need two main looms for this? The engine and the "body" loom?
  4. Yeah it's been enough of an adventure buying a truck that caught fire on the test drive! I have a relative that's very handy with wiring etc. I'll run this idea past him and see what he reckons.
  5. Thank you. My truck is a UK spec but I'm located in the USA. I'll dig around on that site you linked to.
  6. Hello, I bought a LR 90 with a 200tdi from a Disco, sight unseen. It arrived and on the maiden voyage (1 mile for diesel) I had an electrical fire. It looks as though every wire from the firewall down to the starter is a bit crispy now. I'm yet to pull it out of the dash to see how bad the damage is behind the dash itself. I'm resigned to having to replace the wiring with a new loom. I've searched quite a bit and it looks as though there is a lot of interchangeability from different engines and years etc. What I haven't found is a comprehensive list of part numbers for looms that will fit my application. The truck itself is an 84, I believe the engine is from around 90-92. Can anyone here suggest a loom that's fairly common to fit my purpose? Thank you all.
