  5. oops!!! put a scrappy turbo on topped up water and changed oil. started her up and all looked well. then i took her out for a spin but it all went a bit wrong. cant rev above about 2300rpm get a juddering above 2000rpm as if its dropping a pot and clouds of black smoke on power this time. gutted.com any ideas? if not does anybody want a freelander?
  6. was toying with the idea of running a veg oil mix in my 2.0 diesel freelander (1998 xedi) tank. not planning on making any mods to vehcle. A work mate runs a 1995 shogun on 25 - 50% mix depending on weather wih no probs. I was wondering weather it causes any damage to freelanders and weather it is actually legal as i have heard varying stories from yes up to an ammount to not at all legal. any thoughts appreciated
  7. the other things i need to get sorted are the back window which has broken 2 monkey metal brackets and a cable and find a couple of mirror backs as both seam to have dropped off. hopfully then i can tax it and get it on the road
  8. i really hope your right because ive wanted a land rover of some description for years. finally got an excuse but had to be carefull with choice disco too big, mrs wont drive defender, series i love but miles would kill it so freelander it is. me dads had loads of series landys and my favorite was a 2a diesel with overdrive. was origional engine but compared to others (even petrol) it flew along. lets hope its fun. thanx for advice

  11. hi all, just got a R plate turbo diesel freelander. while driving it home it felt a little flat as if the turbo wasnt too good. when i got home i left it on tickover for a while while i checked a few things. then when i turned off the key the engine kept going and revved away with itself the only way i could stop it was to put it in gear and stall it. there is hardly any engine oil or water left in it so not sure weather its the head or turbo or both gone. any ideas anybody????
