  1. Hi Looking into getting some BF Goodrich or Cooper mud tyres for my standard/not lifted 1993 Defender 90. At the moment I have 235/70R16, so would 235/85R16 still fit ok considering the wings, wheel arches and my current wheels? Thank you for the help Chris
  2. thanks ejparrot for the advice, I think I am inclined to mention it all, just incase the worst does happen, I will want them to pay out or recover the vehicle.
  3. Hi Just wondering if people know whether insurance companies class a galavanised chassis as a modification and so you have to declare it? As far as I'm concerned its just a straight swap, old (damaged) for new, is it not? technically no modification has been done. Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thank you Chris
  4. Thank you everybody for your responses - special thanks to Sam90 for all the quantities I will need, much appreciated. Ok my weekend job now is sorted. My rear hub seals are weeping slightly aswell - is there anything I need to know when replacing them/other things to look at whilst I'm under there people can think of? Thanks Chris
  5. Hi Could somebody please help me, what would you recommend as the best oils/fluids etc to use in my 1993 Defender 90? I want to drain the oils out of the gearbox, transfer box and both axles/diffs and replace with nice brand new stuff - as I have no idea when it was last done. Details are below: Gearbox = standard LT77 Transfer box = standard LT230 Front axle/diff = standard 200TDi Rear axle/diff = fitted from a 300TDi (so disc brakes at the back, if that makes a difference) Also how much oil will I need, how much does each part take to fill up to the correct point? Sorry I'm asking for quite a lot of info here, so I very much appreciate everyones help. Thank you Chris
  6. Hi I've been trying to find the tracking information for my 1993 Defender 90 to no avail. I'm getting new tyres put on today, so would like to know the measurements to tell the tyre place, just incase they don't have them, if anyone knows them? Thank you Chris
  7. Hi What do people recommend as the tyre pressures front & back for 235/70/r16 All terrains on my 1993 200TDi Defender 90 please?. 95% of my driving is on the roads, round town/dual carriageways/motorways etc. Thank you Chris
  8. Thank you for your reply Adam. Yeah don't need the do any bulkhead work, its solid as a rock. I may take it to the the garage i've taken my Landys to in the past and get a quote, they do a very good job and their prices are pretty fair i think.
  9. Does anybody know a rough price a usual Land Rover specialists garage will charge to replace the footwell behind the pedals in a 90, as its rotting away at the bottom. The base (straight part) of the footwell is fine, but the small strip of metal in between the base and pedal section has a hole and rot also. If anyone has any idea idea it will be appreciated? Thanks Chris
  10. Hi I've heard conflicting views on the oil to use in a Defender 200TDi. I'll go for the 15W40, but somebody said that sticky oil (like Castrol Magnatec) is no good, but somebody else recommended it. Also what type would be best: mineral, fully synthetic or part synthetic etc? Thank you Chris
  11. Hi What engine oil would people recommend to use on a Defender 200TDi? Thank you Chris
  12. Hi I'm wondering how much the average Land Rover specialists garage would charge for a passenger side outrigger replacement for my 1993 Defender? Could anyone give me a rough price I'll be looking at? Thank you Chris
