  1. I found the best way was by using the cord method. I put loops in the two sides and the top and bottom. With the other half gently pressing from outside and the rubber warmed up in hot water, went in a treat.
  2. Yes, valve clearances were done, going to re-check tomorrow though. Compression is ok and checked and it tries to fire if I use easy start
  3. Evening all, just changed my engine which came bare, block and head only and fitted new recon pump. Now the thing won't start. All timing marks are set, start solonoid activates fine. Turns over fine but will not fire, fuel at the injectors.now I'm stumped, any ideas?
  4. evening all, went to start the landy up yesterday and low and behold, nothing. When i turn the key the ignition lights are on but when i turn the key to start the engine all lights go off and nothing happens. I've got twin batteries on board and manually link them but its still the same. I presume its a faulty earth somewhere but should i look for anything else while im at it. many thanks
  5. Evening all My 110 has just failed the mot on the chassis, as usual, a hole has appeared above the rear shock absorber bracket and accross the rear tub support. I have removed the shock and support bracket but its difficult to get the area back to bare metal with my grinder, even tight with my dremel. Anybody got an easier sugestion to get it ready for welding, many thanks for any ideas
  6. sounds like the same problem i had on my conversion, air was getting into the fuel line from the tank to the lift pump, check all the fuel hoses eliminating them one by one
  7. evening all, when swapping over to a disco transfer box, do you use the disco handrake cable and bracket as well, cause looking at them they seem to be different, thanks in advance
  8. evening all, im having trouble fitting my yellow top and my normal starting battery underneath the passenger seat for my split charger, the yellow top is so tall the terminals are nearly touching the seat box top. i have been told that you can lay the yellow top on its side because its got a gell pack and its sealed, does any body know if this is true and ok to do, many thanks
  9. Thanks for all the replies, guys. had a quick look in the daylight and i think the head gasket is shot at the back of the head, the missus will be pleased, told her i was doing the decoratin this weekend, after spending so much time on the landy just lately
  10. I've put new hoses on from the turbo to the inlet manifold and air cleaner, these gases are coming from the top of the head area by the bulkhead unless there's another hose that should be around there
  11. evening all just tried out my 110 after putting a 200tdi in and found a hisssing noise at the engine end by the bulkhead, i can feel gases escaping and the power is down as well, i was wondering if i've missed a breather hose or worse still the head gasket. Any ideas are welcome
  12. Evening all, Finally got my 200tdi swapped into my 110 and amazingly it started 1st time, the only problem being after running for a couple of minutes the revs start to die as though being starved of fuel. The engine doesnt cut out and will eventually tick over ok again for another couple of minutes. I have cut and extended the fuel hoses and used the proper fuel pipe clamps. Do you think air is still getting in the pipes or could there be another problem i should be looking at. The lift pipe primed the fuel filter fine so im presuming that that is ok, or am i wrong on that many thanks for any thoughts
  13. evening all, is it possible to use my power steering pump from my 19j engine and replace it on the 200tdi im putting in. I ask because my steering box is a 6 bolt and this engine has come without any power steering pipe work. If i can just swap the pump over, im thinking that i could use my existing pipe work knowing that the pipe unions are the same. I dont mind extending any pipes but i dont really want the delay in getting some others many thanks in advance
  14. evening gents, i know parts of this have been covered before but since my LT77 is on its way out i've thought about the disco box. i know the gear changes are the opposite but i fancy a short gear change and dont mind it coming through where my cubby box sits. question was 1- will it fit the gearbox mounts as is 2-will the props stay the same 3-do i need a new seat box currently running as soon to be changed 19j engine many thanks in advance
