  1. hi guys hope you could help. so have that noise coming from the back of the landy...it sound like the tyres are a bit flat, you knoe the noise flat tyres make when you're driving!!!! if you get me. i've checked the pressure and they are fine. tyres are standard on steel wheel, done the wheel bearing, change the diff oil still no change. sound is louder the faster i go even in free wheeling. sound like i have oversized offroad tyres. i don't know if these standard tyres will sound like that, i was thinking that the landy is not plylined and there's nothing between the cab and the rear could amplify the sound make it sound louder? any help wellcome kind regards thierry
  2. Thanks guys got it done yesterday, did'nt do the rotor filter though is that bad? and the engine took about 8ltr of oil!!! i'll check the injector loom thanks for the heads up
  3. hey guys, manage to get a nice td5 110. couple of small things to be done on her but i'll sort them out. i just want to give her a full service. could anyone advice me on: 1. engine oil specs and quantity? 2. gearbox oil quantity and is it the atf? 3. tranny box oil quantity and is it 80w90? same with axle? any other things i should do while servicing the landy? thanks a mil Thierry
  4. thanks Dave, had a look at some over the week-end. was really keen on one today a 03 td5 110, guy on the phone sound really genuine and told me the landy was clean as a whistle. got there check oil level, over fill, leaking engine oil, transfer box leak, swivel leak.... turn on the engine i've heard td5 before and they are sweet but this one was worse that a tractor. very shaky as well. took it for a drive but i only made 1o metres as i had to stand on the clutch it was so stiff!!!! just walke away lost 8hours drive!!! i've owned a 200tdi which i love and a 300tdi as well. just wanted to upgrade to the famous td5. and would the 15p engine not have steel stud as standard rather than the egr difference only!! hoprfully i'll get some luck during the week.

  6. i know 300tdi are more economic but what could be done to improve the mpg of the td5? decat, egr blank etc!! was thinking of the servicing as well. apart from changing all the fluids would i need to get one of the hawkeye thing!!! i've read also that the td5 engine perform best with the best oil like fully synthetic etc..
  7. seems hard to find a decent td5 for the right price here in ireland may be i'll try try in the uk so if anyone know of any td5 going give a head up thanks

Hi guys, Iknow this question have been asked hundred times!! but they are all a couple of years old now. in 2012 i would like to know some of your opinions whether to get a td5 or 300tdi. i've work on the tdi i've owned and i know it's not as easy on a td5. Have opinion change about the td5 since then? wont be doing much towing or anything like that. Any opinion will be helpful kind regards Thierry

Hi guys i still have the issue. i've remove the abs fuse for now and i'm going to rebuild my front hub both side in the near future. but even with no fuse the abs light does'nt come on and the bulb is fine. sometimes it comes on while driving and turn off. i try the paper clip but the warning light did'nt even light up. so i'm not sure what's wrong here

  14. hi guys that could be a long shot. But i've a diesel 200amps arc welder generator in the shed. i can weld with it no worries. but only the 110v output is working i don't get the 230v. does anyone know anything about generators and point me in the right direction please? thanks a million Thierry
  15. i'm going to get a compression test done during the week. it's very hard to start as well have to crank it a lot. seems like it's sucking air somewhere thierry
  16. So will I check the tapper clearence and get it test for compression? The knock is very high in the engine seem to be just under the rocker cover. I've change all injectors will that affect the compression ?
  17. If I loosen the injector in question the noise stop. Does it make any sense! I'm going to check the clearence and see if the cap still here. I've remove the rocker cover yesterday and notice a slight discolouratuon of the push rod. I wonder if that ring a bell?
  18. hi guys, i've been trying to figure out what's wrong the 110 300tdi. so one day it overheated really badly the water in the expansion tank was boiling. thought it was the head gasket so got it checked the head gasket is fine. it's smoking a lot white smoke and sometimes kind of blue. when the engine is warm it does'nt smoke at all. the heating was a faulty thermostat, i've change all my injectors, new heater plugs. the reason why i change the injectors is because when i loose the number 3 injector the smoke stop. so change all of them. now with the new one in it still smoke but with the addition of a knocking noise which seem to be underneath the rocker and if i loosen the same injector again the noise stop together with the smoke. The other thing i've notice is when i loosen the the injector pipe the diesel coming out seem to be mixed with air as it was very foamy. the other ones does'nt do that! so could it be the cylinder or a valve issue or even faulty injector pump or advance timing thanks for any help thierry
  19. there's one on mine les. it's with the lock nut and the screw. to adjust the the engagement lever, there's 2 arrows one on the casing and one on the pin(screw). it should be adjusted to the correct clearence. but i don't have the instruction i know it's in a manual somewhere
  20. hi does anyone have the instruction on how to adjust the starter motor on a TD? mine keep engage and does'nt dis-engage. thanks in advance thierry
