  2. ............thanks everyone! i thought it was to good to be true about plug in heater/cooler doing the job! I guess i will just have to move to Portugal!
  3. Hello One & All! Anyone out there in Landy Land bought a plug in heater/cooler for the defender (due to very cold weather)? are they any good? or should i just put on another jacket due to the defender being like a freezer box in the early morning and having plastic seats don't help!............. Thanks!
  4. ..........ah the things people do for cash! all i can say about LexToll is choose your day and hope there in a good mood!
  5. Hi! not sure what you need or what kind of Landy you have? but i use a garage called LexToll near killin Perthshire Tel:01567 820280 ask for Bill or checkout lixtoll.com! has a few old dead 90/110 in the yard!they may let you have a look! Good luck!
  6. Sorry but Britpart is having a laugh! for me its to little to late! i for one is sick of returning failed parts.....never mind having to pay for re-fitting if out of time! Britpart will always be "Sh*tpart to me!
  7. .....i think those words "you get what you pay for!" may apply if you know what your buying in the first place! just take a look inside of any good garage and tell me do you see cheap sh*t tools? YES you may find the odd carp bit used for carp jobs! but thats it, many years ago i got the chance to buy a full tool kit from the good old USA, Craftsman was the company! that was around 18 years or so ago and still the set looks & works great to this day! i would have rather bought British but it was hard to match cost/quality and even to this day its just as hard to find a British tool maker that can stand up to anything the yanks or the japs or even any non-UK company can make? SAD! but now the UK market is full of cheap sh*t
  8. ............got the paperwork in!! low & behold the paperwork said standard landy NO MODS????????(is there such a thing?) gave them a ring told them that my td5 was anything but standard! thankfully they said it was okay just as long as Land Rover had done all the work at the time it was being made! even got them to put it in an email and send it to me! So all i can say is CiS insurance you suck big time ! ADRIAN FLUX GETS MY VOTE!.............4-now!
  9. I found Sureterm rather rude!! kept me waiting then told me that they cant insure (commercial vehicle insurance) me due to the fact i had only one vehicle????? then they hung up on me without a bye or leave! CiS also told me that my Defender special build had after market parts added???? told them that Land Rover had made the vehicle with all its mods at the factory and that it wasn't done by Bob the builder! their reply was............. YES BUT THE LAND ROVER HAS BEEN CHANGED SO WE CANT INSURE SAID LANDY??? eh went ADRIAN FLUX who said not a problem as the Landy was mods was done at the factory! best wait and see what the paper work says when i get it in the post/email ah bl00dy insurance companys....drives me to drink
  10. Thanks for the pictures! looked like great fun! loved the pic of refueling in Amsterdam? reminds me of what i do often with my TD5
  11. I did Norway via Spain on me Kawasaki! found log cabins etc costly and damp?! camping much better! lots to see and do! fuel up when you can! enjoy you lucky git

  14. .....thanks landymannnnnnnn! me sure its just down to pooooor parts! should have spent more and got LD parts!
  15. Les if your near Scotland your more than welcome to pick it up for free ! but trying to send it would be a pain in the arse for me! Sorry Mate!
  16. Hello! failure was about 6 or 7 weeks after new discs & pads went in! around the same time as the second set went in too!
  17. Hi Old hand! i did think for a mow that it may have been caused by my driving but as i said i do drive my td5 with due care! as both of us are getting on a bit so when the garage replaced them again i even went out my way to take even more care to brake them in????? but i will try doing what you said and hopefully that will sort it out! Thanks everyone for their input!
  18. Thank you one and all! just my luck having this oil and no use for it still as i do live in Sunny/windy/wet/snowy all in one day Scotland it would be best to leave it as it is! ANYONE NEED 25LTR OF 15/40 FOR FREE?
  19. Hi M&S! did a bit of checking up on possible cause of disc problem! been told the condition is called DVT Disc Variation thickness! a warped disc to you and me? can be caused by one of six things. 1.Failure to ensure that mounting surface of brake disc and hub are perfectly clean prior to disc fitting. (possible?) 2.Improper bedding-in of new discs and pads. (Highly unlikely?) (old fart plus i drive like a church priest) 3.Fitting the wrong brake pad compound for your driving style. (Highly unlikely as sold as full kit from LD dealer?) 4.Severe overheating of your brake discs. (Yes thats why i have DVT) 5.Pad etching.(SEE NUMBER 2. ANSWER) 6.Manufacturing errors.(very possible? but surely not twice in a row?) ......any how its a bit of a pain in the hole! the LD garage is as much help as a chocolate fire guard! not sure what to do next? buy a jap 4x4? ha aha sorry just a joke............any input welcome!
  20. Has anyone used 15/40 engine oil in a TD5? i have come across 25ltr for free! my TD5 is over 9 years old and is clocking around 198,000 miles and running sweet! surely it wont do any damage?????????
  21. Just the other month i had both of my front brake disc replaced on my TD5 110! but they failed very quickly causing bad brake judder! later found out that the disc where Britpart? but because i had them done by a local land rover garage they replaced them under warranty! but they have gone again! not sure why! but i feel it maybe due to poor parts!(or poor fitting)and no its not my driving! i know one or two of you guys think Britpart are no good but i am now getting rather hacked off by having to go back to garage with failed parts and yes its Britpart thats causing the most problems! its not the first time their parts have failed! so from now on i tell them NOT to fit Britpart just in case!
  22. Thanks crwoody! i remember reading in the service record someone had been into the ECU and reset codes and faults? MMmmm i guess i will just have to live with it till i find a Nanocom by the roadside
