  1. Yes, and I checked last night, the headlight on the bike are 5" higher than than LR. I have HID on dip and full, plus BMW fog lights, so quite a selection to choose from when out and about and thought I'd quite like that range of options on the truck too
  2. Thanks, thats awesome instructions Keith
  3. Yeah, but they look great :-). On the beemer they pretty much light up the the next 5 miles of road But thanks for the advice and warning, might hold back on the mains then and see what I get from everything else
  4. I'm looking to turn the Landy ( Def 90 200 TDi ) into an approximation of Blackpool sea front and have decided to 1) Upgrade to NAS Lights - Don't see any problems with that, just plug and play 2) Upgrade Headlights to HIDs. Already done this on my BMW R1200GS so again don't see that as a problem The questions I have are around adding additional lights, specifically 3) 2 x PIA lights on the A-Bar 4) 4 x PIA lights on a light bar at the front 5) 2 x Worklights on the back I want to have each set of lights on a switch on my new Mud console Is it best to run each of these sets of lights on a seperate wiring loop and relay, or can you get away with them all off the same loop Is it worth running a separate new lead direct from the battery with inline fuse or can I take a line of the existing fuse box Handy with a soldering iron and electrical tape, but not that that happy with volts, watts or amps K
  5. Guys, thanks very much puts my mind at ease. Didn't think it was a major problem as no smell and soon cooled down Will think about oil changes when I get some time in next couple of weeks Cheers Keiff
  6. Still getting to grips with my new Defender 90 ( 1994 ), was out at the weekend, riding up and down the east coast of Fife, lovely day However I did notice that it was starting to get quite warm under the middle seat. Took the seat bttomo out and the metal underneath was very warm to the touch, not painful, just hot. Stayed this warm all day but not getting any hotter, and cooled down quite quickly when I got home and left it standing. No burning smell or anything, temp gauge normal all day ( and functioning as it went up to about 1/4 gauge after the first hour on the road ). So just checking this is normal, and if not what should I be doing about it Cheers for any help
  7. Electrics are the only thing I'm not 100% comfortable with, and I was thinking a rear end rewire may be just that little too big to start with The loom that I removed is about 1m in length, so I doubt its pulled it out of the lights, as nothing is trailing underneath and what I can see of the lights, they all still have wires connected. I'm hoping they might just patch the wires together and fit a multi plug, but this is a main dealer ....
  8. I hoping not THAT big, only the back end needs replacing, still have complete elec power to everything in the front, lights, dash, indictors, wipers etc All seems to come from a single junction of male/female sockets directly infront of the drivers side in the bonnet Goes into Stratstones on Friday to find out.......
  9. Out for a blast on Sunday and all of sudden I get one almighty noise which sounds like something has snapped and is repeatedly banging against the engine, pull in and find a shed load of wiring wrapped around the drive shaft. Interesting I think, as I pull it all clear, thought I've picked it up while running through a puddle. Go to pull away and the indicators are flashing quick, ( a blown bulb he thinks ). Get out to check and realise all the rear lights have gone, plus the rear heater and wiper and wash.....mmm what could that be Take another look at the wiring, ( covered in waxoly and a bit shredded ) and realise its the rear wiring loom, that must have come undone and has wrapped itself around the shaft and ripped the whole thing out Ouch !
  10. While looking at pictures of defender 90s ( sad I know, but getting ideas of what I can mod ), I noticed that mine doesn't have the the bit in the pic, which seems to be the vent system Would love to ring round breakers and ask if they have one, but no idea what its called
  11. Yeah, hate it, and one of the first things thats going to be replaced by a nice clean black one Then there are the doors to repair and replace the back on because the lock is broken Then I want to get a roof rack, and then some spots, and then and then and then and then..... oh bugger there goes the credit card
  12. Always wanted one, and eventually picked up this beauty ( well its beautiful to me ) Doors could do with a bit of work and needs a new back door that locks instead of padlocks but seems solid enough So what next, do I Waxoyl the bu**er to death or buy every accessory I can buy/fit/bolt on
