  1. Hi, my disco (200tdi with an LT77 so maybe different) has always rattled in the manner you suggest since new. I was reliably informed 16 years ago that its just 'chatter' and discos are known for it, sometimes they do it and sometimes they dont. as i said maybe an R380 is different. Also if the noise dissapears when you put the clutch DOWN then it cant be the release bearing, that only comes into play when the clutch is DOWN so it wouldnt be noisy any other time. IMHO i shouldnt worry, like most other landy faults, let it develop. Rich
  2. Hi Underdog, I've got a 200tdi (yes i know, before i get jumped on, its a completely different system) with a 1 button remote that worked absolutely fine for the first 16 years of its life then with not apparent warning decided to give me the complete run around. there was no end of insanely annoying faults ocurring in a completely unpredictable manner, from false activations, to not unlocking, to not locking to the immobiliser staying on. all these problems developed really quickly after the 1st fault reared its head. only a new alarm module solved the problem (on my truck it was behind the steering column to the left of the fuse box however something leads me to believe that yours is in a kickplate somewhere?, someone on here will know) and now a 17 YO disco is now very well behaved again. what i'm trying to say is that there maybe much more knowledgable people out there that can correctly diagnose your module fault or maybe even fix it for you when in my honest opinion and it is just my opinion that £20 quid on e-blag for a new (secondhand) module and a set of programing instructions from on here somewhere will cure your fault and save much time and headbanging. i did it £5 plus £1.99 postage for my AMR 2103, after weeks of typing, phonecalls and pulling my hair out i so wished i'd done it sooner. Goodluck. p.s. the model number of your module is written on it, locate it, read it and google it, straight swap!.
  3. thats what i thought disco-ron, never seen one rusty there before, the N/S is as strong today as the day it was built, its just the O/S. would love to know what caused it just there in that place, where do the sunroof drains run? are they O/S? the roof panel that forms the gutter from the top is also strong so it cant be to blame, the headlining is dry, i've felt up underneath it and its dry and the inside of the roof is still factory white. anyone with any ideas, chuck them on here, i'm all ears.
  4. hi y'all, well it was all going swimmingly for a while, even during the 1st stages of the rebuild! working from the chassis up, a few bits that needed patching in the front wheelarches behind the evil plastic wheelarch liners (which are now off for good) and 1 little patch in the rear arch but seeing as its a 17 year old disco 1 200tdi, its been very good, even the rear crossmember and floor only had surface rust and the chassis is mint. However and here lies the problem and the answer to the topic title RUST! its in one of the most awkward places i can imagine, not even sure how to describe it but here goes. if you open the front and rear doors and look where the top of the door seal sits and the two panels (body and roof) meet the other end of the panel forms the roof gutter then its as rotten as a paper bag left out in the rain! is this a common fault? i only ask because i've never heard it mentioned, it will be a nightmare to sort out i reckon, has anyone any experience of this task? is there a panel available to weld in its place or must it be fabricated? so many questions and so little time! any help will be much appreciated, hopefully it can be overcome for not too great a cost. thanks guys and please help!
  5. hello mate, have you lifted your disco? does this not help? also do you have the 'wheelarch spats' aound your arches, you know those factory stuck on things. only ask cuz thats the same size and make i've got on mine and they fitted no probs at all after i cut the rear quarter panel. insa remoulds are always a bit bigger than anyother of the same size, its cuz they are remoulds and use a complete carcass from another tyre before the add their own. let me know how you get on mate.
  6. welcome to the dizzy heights of lifted disco, dont forget your oxygen! show us what it looks like then!
  7. lol, well if the springs/shocks you are replacing are that bad then you could put some armstrongs on and still be thrilled with the ride! good luck mate, let me know how it turns out.
  8. well mate i'm in Saltash, a bit of a way away but if i can help let me know. p.s. decarbon +50mm, £100 per pair delivered from JGS 4x4 if you are interested, i know their not the cheapest but they arent the most expensive either and they last. going for supergaz shocks?????
  9. Hi guys, just my 2 pence worth, i've got bearmach +2" springs on my disco 200tdi, have had for the last 3 years, have been and gone places i possibly shouldn't have and defo been some places i defo shouldn't have been, i've also towed most things from a trailer full of logs with more in the truck to a 2.5 tonne mini exc and all these really frequently and i've had absolutely no probs with the springs in any way. They arent handed btw, just fronts and rears. IMHO i think they're well worth the money, interestingly enough i've never had a problem with mailorder 4x4 they've always been on the ball and answered anything i have asked them. HOWEVER (and again this is only my opinion) do not buy the suspension kit thats pictured in this thread, i have had nothing but carp supplied with pro comp written on the side, blown shocks time after time after time. fitted decarbon +2" never had a prob since. awesome, fit and forget, will take anything and the ride is fantastic on and off road. good luck with what you are doing.
  10. Just wondering what the experts (your) opinions are as regards the need for or indeed the need not to have anti roll bars fitted to disco 1s? do the benefits of not having them off road outweigh the need for them on road or vice versa? you decide and let us all know!
