Hi all, I have a 1995 disco 300tdi and have just done 17k miles over last two years. and not a single problem developed over this time.and just passed MOT also. A lot of heavy towing too. Who would want anything else ? Maybe should not speak too soon.... cant help but praise the old girl.Have many of you people similar story..

Dont think you need to remove them to test , just perform a continuity check, but I would keep applying penetrating oil and turning in and out slowly and hope for the best.

Clean surfaces very well and ensure they are sound,then tighten up evenly.

What brand was the more successful middle box and was it a non cat version. I am thinking the non cat version may have more baffles in it ??

Hi Fitted a new exhaust system and it sounds too noisy. Its a bxxxpart system . Have checked all over for leaks incl manifold and its airtight. The outlet tail pipe points to ground could this be a factor where as the genuine land rover was straight out. Now I have removed the cat could this be part the reason, I see non cat and cat versions are available . The noise is a booming sound as if its got a pin hole . Makes for unpleasant driving on longish trips Any advice please

check the seal between heater inlet and bulkhead tray. I waxoiled mine and cured it this way.

Hi guys Have a 300tdi disco with 125k miles and running well never over heated or burning any oil. Planning a long trip this year and wondering if I should do head gasket or leave well alone. Is the 300tdi poor in this area, at what miles do they normally give trouble ? Thanks

Could anyone tell me please when the r380 gearbox output shaft got the cross drilled upgrade to prevent premature wear . either an index number or year . Mine is a late 95 , with no apparent backlash. Thanks

A transparent piece of fuel line after lift pump can check for air getting in to fuel.
