  1. I was hoping that i wouldn't need to do any work with any of them! But you're right, of course. With this particular one, I think it will just have to keep living on the driveway, gathering more moss for the timebeing!
  2. Ok, even before I am posting this, or writing it, I know it sounds stupid......yet I am still going ahead! I need to get rid of some of my Land Rovers. I have had four lots and un-recovered in the last 12 months (a very long story), and I have lost my storage facilities too. So, I have 8 left, and two impulse buys from last week turning up next week, need to sell off the ones I am not too attached to. However, I have no idea how to price them. I am going to start with my G-reg 110. It is a 300tdi conversion with power steering, van sides, 3 seats only, 3 door (of course). Pretty basic, but with a decent 300tdi engine and power steering. It was great until I stopped driving it 3 years ago. It had just passed it's MOT with no advisories, and then I decided to change the turbo with a more recent one off a 300tdi I had bought to strip for parts. I had got round to taking the turbo off and putting the new one on, and then wanted to do some extra work, but never got around to it, and it's been sitting on the driveway since.....not driven in 3 years. It's a little moss covered now, lots of spiders webs, and I've lost the keys....I think my ex-wife took the keys just to get at me (I bought new locks and a new ignition barrel, but haven't fitted them yet.....and the back door is unlocked). It's not a rust bucket either. The chassis is ok....only surface rust.....no rot (I think).....but I have got to take a look again. How do I price such a thing? Do I just go to ebay and let the market decide if it's worth anything? Part of me still wants to do it up; part of me wants to strip it for it's parts; but the sensible part of me knows that I am going to concentrate on the other landies and not on this one, so it makes sense to clear space now. Is ebay the best place for it? Any advice and suggestions would be much appreciated!
  3. I need help! The lease on my barn, where I store my land rovers, has expired, and the farmer I let it from needs to use the barn for other things now, so, can't let it out to me anymore. I now have 8 land rovers, and I need somewhere to store at least 6 of them, which is reasonably close to London (the last one I leased was in Potters Bar, Herts, though I live in Woodford, Essex). I need something flexible, cheap (I am divorced now, so, the money part is an issue regrettably), secure, and somewhere I can get reasonable access to (I like to drive them, after all). It doesn't need to be covered, just secure. A cheap yard would do just fine, or a little space on someone's land. Does anyone know of anywhere cheapish, not too far from London? Many thanks!
  4. Thanks all.....I really appreciate that! I'll give them both a shout. My chassis is only 3 years old, so, it seems a terrible shame to discard it.....hence thinking about blasting and galvanising it (comes to about £600). Will let you know how I get on with all of them!
  5. Hi all, I need to either do a chassis change, or strip my 110 down and blast and galvanise my existing decent chassis. Can anyone recommend anyone in the South-East (ish) who isn't too expensive, and will do the extra work (engine change) for a reasonable fee? Cheers!
  6. Thanks Mickey and Ben....you were both great! I am now sorted....thanks so much!
  7. Hi all, Can anyone hook me up with someone who can urgently move my 110 from High Wycombe to Woodford? The 110 has to be collected during business hours tomorrow (or will be disposed of), but the person who was meant to do the move today just called and told me his truck couldn't move a 110.....so, anyone know someone reliable and cheap? Cheers!
  8. Many thanks everyone for your help with this....it is much appreciated. The landy was also failed for not having the centre statutory seat belt.....but there is no centre seat!
  9. Hi All, Could anyone help me identify some parts please? My 1985 Military LHD 110 (2.5 NA) just failed the MOT, and the guy who did the MOT is now away, so can't help me with the failed parts. These are the failures: Nearside front (idle arm) Ball joint has excessive play [2.2.B.1f] Nearside front lower Torque/reaction arm has a detiorated rubber bush resulting in excessive movement [2.4.G.3] Now, the ball joint.....would that be the thread track rod end ball joint? And, would the lower torque/reaction arm bush be the radius arm? Thanks in advance for any help with this!
  10. Thanks all for the replies! I think these engines were from Simmonites - obviously, stripped units, and they had about 10 or 12 of them, and listed them as new. I had a look on the Simmonites website, and they don't have any now. And, just in case it wasn't them, I don't feel like making myself look like an idiot and calling them (but I do think it was them as I was buying a chassis from them at the time for a friend in Spain and had thought I should just buy a unit and keep it in the garage....alas, I did not have the cash). Oh well....in that case.....can anyone recommend someone decent but not extortionately expensive to recon my td5? My recent divorce means I really can't afford Turner prices....although, of course I would like to go with them!
  11. Hi all, I was just wondering, or hoping, if anyone remembered this..... A few months ago, there were some new Td5 engines listed on ebay. The price was unbelievable (something like £1500 or £1700...I can't remember the exact details), but they were from a reputable seller. However, for the life of me, I cannot remember who it was who was selling them. I didn't need a new engine back then, but am in the midst of converting one of the old landys into a td5 and I just want a new engine, if possible. Does anyone have any recollection of who it was who was selling these units so cheaply? Cheers!
  12. I was just wondering....when did you buy the disco, and what are the terms of your warranty? Also, do you by any chance have images of the roof before the repair was done (as this will affect what you can prove)?
  13. I really like the idea of a forklift, however, that really would be the end of my marriage....also, my wife's scary....she's from Glasgow!
  14. Thank you....that was a good idea. I was going to do it, but then thought.....I'll just ask them! They said they have nothing to do with Hobson industries....so, I feel happier dealing with them now!
