  1. Thanks for the advice I'll have a look if that's the problem. I think the ABS unit you refer to is the earlier one, same as on the Disco's the shuttle valve switch is separate and under the unit they are easily changed and cost £38. The Wabco unit on my 2003 Defender 90 td5 xs is all one piece I have spoken to Landrover UK and Wabco they both say it is none servicable and a new one required at over £2,000 a ridiculous price for a little aluminium box I think it must be filled with gold and diamonds
  2. I rang my local L/R dealer and I was mistaken with the price it is actually £1850+vat a grand total of £2173.75 and they said it is not repairable Cheers for all the replies. I have bought a Hawkeye diagnostics unit and it is showing no faults at present, but has a historically logged fault showing a bad earth on the ABS shuttle valve. Hopefully this is external and I will be able to trace it. Thanks for the ebay link if I can't get it sorted I may go for this option, they come up quite regularly on there but you dont really know what you're getting and no comebacks. Never had this bother with my old 200tdi I am begining to regret swapping it
  3. The trouble is when he clears the logged fault the shuttle valve is ok A new one is £2,112 + 3hrs labour. A lot to spend when it may or may not be the fault. He thinks it might be sticking momentarily now and again, but it doesn't seem to affect the brake systems at all.
  4. This is my first post so I'd like to say hello to everybody. I have a 2003 Defender 90 TD5 XS and have the common problem of the Abs/Tc light coming on. The brakes and tc work ok and when I take it to my local independant L/R garage it reads shuttle valve failure. He clears the fault and the lights stay out for up to 6 months and the systems work fine, then bing the're back again I do a few emergency stops and all is working well so back to the garage and switch them off. I was wondering what would be the cheapest option to buy so that I could clear the fault myself. i have looked at the Hawkeye but it is a bit expensive for me to use just for this one fault.
