  1. off to crawl under the truck any particular spots of note?
  2. guys long time since i had the truck out new job and all that, had it out the last few weeks again and everything fine. Went to aberdeen (not relevant) and had heavy snow at home wife took out truck all lights lit up including indicators so truck looks like a christmas tree. When she stopped engine it runs on then stops but lights all stay on. Luckily got battery immobiliser so got her to turn key. As a short term fix this works but now i am back I need to sort out lights especially as i found the indicators dont actually work just glow constantly. Any thoughts appreciated Tony
  3. no holes in that plan, just make sure you are talking cleared funds before you send the vehicle. had a mate get money in his bank but first thing following morning transfer was cancelled, bank told him the money was not in the account but pending. luckily he had forgotten to remove the tracker so with the spare set of keys he had been ready to send on borrowed a friend and collected the vehicle. dvla a bit tricky but worked out. I would scan all your v5 docs filled in apart from signature of new owner and as it's delivered put copies in post to dvla recorded delivery. you have no signature but at least they have the start of a trail should something go awry.
  4. Simpler.............so far. After an afternoon of knuckle stripping (not shuffling) and drowning in some of west yorkshires finest sunshine lying on my drive, checked power to solenoid with hammer at ready it was a bit down like next to nowt, back to battery which is flat, put on charge overnight, bugger all in morning. next job new battery and isolator for times it just sits on drive plus a nice new earth strap from engine which was non existent. Then we may get somewhere................he says
  5. having had a quick peruse i think i need to find cable to solenoid on starter but thought before i bugger something else up i would ask: truck been fine till jumped in after being parked for half an hour, have full charge and all lights on dash lit, turned key click noise then a repetitive clicking from behind dash and all lights on dash dim and no starter motor fired. after few attempts gave up let it roll forward and bump started it to get home. turned off again full power all dash lights glow full till turn key same issue all warning lights dim and this clicking behind dash. Any advice? thanks
  6. do you think somebody drilled every single one of those LEDs into the bodywork, that has got to be a defender owner masochistic nutter
  7. worth £250 just to wander round the collection and meet the seller
  8. hang on is that a Ro 80 lurking behind the poo? this guy may be worth a visit though the gyrocopter does make one wonder
  9. nigel i assume you have used something like a 408 wire which being ferritic will passivate but as simon says not easily. if you used one of the duplex rods 2205 etc then again easier. My only concern would be the heat affected zone which may pit during passivation so as simon suggested a light coating first just of the s/s and weld haz would be good
  10. Mr wabbit, tbh not a clue now you say that, it could well be steel but as it was the first bit of shiny silver metal i have found on the truck my natural assumption was it couldn't be one of LR finest multi-oxides of steel plate used to construct (loosely) vehicles in the 1990s
  11. got away with it again swapped to performance direct at £128 fully comp and now a mighty 2 years ncb gone up a tenner though.
  12. i picked up an unused LR radio fitting kit which has everthing including two underdash speakers, an aerial and two mounts for head unit one for newer defs. think it was about £60. Also includes an idiot guide including lots of drawings with arrows to do install. took about three hours in all. The main problem is taking the dash apart to get mounts in, also the earth cable is too short to reach the fusebox earth it recommends so I screwed to dash rail. Drilling dash for speakers is easy, though there is an ally plate behind the vinyl which was tougher than i expected.
  13. like it but just that faint hint of
