  1. Living on the M62 I am comforted that british workers are working their dangly bits off in Liverpool to produce at least 8 transporters full of evoques a day plus at least 4 full heading north on the M6 mid afternoon.

the evoque is weird i hated the sport (blacked out 5 series syndrome) but, this is kinda cute and on my list for new company car if tax is not silly.

I still think there is a way to go on development, the shape i think is going to be close to concept, which as they get rid of 26 inch nobby wheels and chrome front gets better, but i sense a determination within the design team to make this the "go anywhere" machine that Land Rover used to be before the 'go anywhere' was a school car park or henley picnic site

  2. autocar have atest drive of this yellow jobby plus some pics of a white one which looks more the part. Also has a comment that the marketing bod is very upset at all the pseud car comments and that they are aiming at forces utilities farmers etc. So hopefully we shall see the concept morph into something more defender like.

i still wait to see the proper off road test not the hazardous beach test... my bl***y citroen C5 can ride on a beach but struggles a tad down gulleys and across hillsides though i think that's because I have road tyres on it.

  3. A quick look at his shopping list and assigning a grand a throw except tent and respray 3 each i struggle to get above 18k add a couple of weeks labour at typical garage 70 an hour and a few extra hear and there and we get 30k plus base vehicle

i reckon at 10k it's not bad it looks solid enough and has plenty of kit albeit used

surely one of our 'offroaders' will know the highly esteemed 'stallion'

i guess they are still bowing down to it

    impressed by his pitch though,

  4. Hi All

just been out in my 200TDi 1991 and as i hit main road i had no clutch pressure and also no clutch so have driven home changing gears on note of engine..........yes my knuckles know how good i am at that.

I am guessing a hydraulic fluid is first to check then what?

    Thanks

  5. having had diesel co. cars now for the last 20 years doing c40k miles pa this is something i get once in a while. from my experience it's always at Morrisons/tesco/asda etc. My theory for what it's worth is it's after the site has been filled and the residual has been stirred up be it water or general crud. I think "proper" stations clean the tanks out more regularly plus they always buy their own fuel. the supermarkets all fill up with whoever needs to shift some and so they don't get Shell/Exxon/BP support team checks.

I find the first 100 miles a bit like you describe then i guess the in line filters have got rid of the crud or it's settled in the tank. usually a couple of fills with Shell city diesel or BP premium stuff and i'm back to normal.

I can only suggest filling up now to dilute the stuff in your tank and also checking your filter doesn't need a clean in case it's full and not stopping anything.

  6. good timing for this post.

My drivers window has decided to lose the front most vertical guide so bit exciting guiding the window with one hand on window and ond one on handle whilst driving.

has anyone a nice piccie showing where i should be fastening new guide to as i am sure theres something else fallen off, i can't find it as i have those special option ventilated door frames for the time being.

    thanks

  7. As we enter the alleged second ice age this week can i suggest a little challenge for all to participate in:

Namely to be the first person to tow a Prius, this winter, with photographic evidence preferably with the tree hugger smiling in gratitude next to that lovely land rover.

For those in London an additional medal for towing a liveried TfL vehicle into the LEZ.

  8. i think you are too far away and too high a pressure, if you bring the pressure down you will get a bigger band to work in ie too far and paint dries and you get sandpaper bit closer orange peel, too close runs. if the pressure is lower you will hopefully gain an inch or two  making the job easier. cant give any pressures etc as i tend to fiddle till i get a good rhythm going, much like welding somedays it's high feed high cuurent others a more languid approach.

have a play on a sheet of scrap get in the mood and it'll work

  9. usually in such cases there are a whole range of gentlemen callers, tax office, HSE, building inspectors who all happen to pop round for a cup of tea. unfortunately we do seem to have no smoke without fire approach in this country. Hopefully for nene this is a one off.
