  1. Thanks Andy, a useful tip. Hopefully the new calipers fitted will see many years service before I need to do that, but I'll remember the advice.
  2. Thanks SLABSIDE, was replacing the motor an easy job? The manual suggests it might be quite complicated.
  3. A very similar question was posted in May by SOTAL, but no reply was forthcoming then. Does anyone have an idea on this: On intermittent wipe the blade parks in one of 4 positions, the correct place and three others, one right in the line of sight, which is a nuisance. It goes through the cycle on successive wipes, so it's not random, but systematic. The wipe-frequency rotary switch on the arm has no effect; it does not work. On continuous wipe, everything performs correctly on normal- and fast-. On single wipe, it parks where I make it park. I had a look in Haynes wiring circuit diagrams and there seems to be a Multi-Function Unit that has to do with the wipers, located behind the driver's side footwell wall, the manual says. It also has connections to the window controls and I do have an intermittent fault with the rear windows too. Does anyone have any ideas on this, please, and do you think that MFU may be linked to both faults? Ideas would be gratefully received; Thanks
  4. Brill! Thanks for that, I too have problems with the rear windows on my 1998 300; they work when they want to and sometimes fail open which is a nuisance. The vendor garage is looking for a replacement board [not sure I know which] under warranty. I will post a new request about intermittent wiper behaviour too.
  5. Thanks to you both for that! It's reassuring to know that it's a routine fault. Whoever designed that set-up didn't think too far ahead! Both sides calipers, pads and discs have been replaced now under warranty and all is working well!
  6. Just got my first Disco 1 300Tdi 1998. It was making a scraping noise and on investigation the rear o/s outboard disc pad had fallen through the caliper and was resting on the disc hub, sawing a neat groove through the hub! The brake was still functional, but probably not well! Is this normal? The whole caliper and pad were pretty corroded, inboard piston seized and both will be replaced, both sides.
