  1. Seeing as I no longer have a Disco thanks to some thieving scumbag, I'm doing my best not getting stuck in the car this year!
  2. Well the insurance arranged a salvage company to recover it, they called me yesterday and at first said it wasn't possible for them to get to it! Then they called back and said they'd have a go!! Got a call from their guy this morning as he couldn't find it, but heard nothing since... No idea whether they managed it or not
  3. Cheers everyone, I hope I get somewhere with insurance too - going to chase them again tomorrow...
  4. I'm still fighting the insurance co for a decent payout - their first offer was actually insulting! It hasn't even been stripped, apart from the wheels which seems like such a waste...
  5. It's partially stripped. So no idea whether it was rolled while thrashing it around a field or rolled to strip?
  6. Well it's been found, but it's not in a good state... Police located it and ID'd it at 1pm today in Surrey - I have to arrange the insurance co to collect it though because of where it is, the Police recovery team can't get to it
  7. From the rear without the tubular bumper From the front (on the left with the tubular bumper and A-bar
  8. Sadly and stupidly just the standard 300tdi spec rubbish I'd certainly recommend people don't rely on it
  9. It does seem to be steadily getting worse. There was no indication anyone was paying any attention to it in the days before it was taken seems none of the neighbours saw or heard anything either It looks like it was stolen Tuesday night, my neighbour is certain it wasn't there when he left for work weds morning but I saw it on the Tuesday eve
  10. My discovery 300tdi has been stolen from Crawley West Sussex sometime in the last 24 hours. Probably no chance I'll see it again but please keep an eye out anyway. M473XJO Dark Green. Insa Turbos, lift kit, tubular bumpers etc I've heard over 20 Land Rovers have been stolen from the area and surroundings in the last month or so - time to be more careful than usual!
  11. The last lot of welding I did on it I painted up with zinc primer and some gloss black spray I had spare and that seems to have held up well so I may just use that again if I have enough, if I do need to buy anything else I'll get some red oxide Thanks for the help - fingers crossed I don't find too may surprises when I get started...
  12. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll go for min 1.2 for most of it then, and will try and get something around 2mm for the sill Out of interest, does anyone know how thick the metal is on a standard bumper as I have an old bent one laying around - I'll make use of that if it's any good
  13. I've found a few 'soft' bits on my Disco 1 which I think would soon resemble swiss cheese if provoked... So I need to crack out the welder, not a problem in iteself, but I need to know though what metal thickness I'll need for the various repairs. Things aren't bad enough (at the moment) to warrant whole repair panels, so I'll be cutting out the rot and patching things up Given I need to do a patch on the front inner arch, outer sill and floor; what sort of thickness sheet will I need to get hold of? Will a single thickness be ok for all the areas I've mentioned, or will some want thicker/thinner than others? Cheers Leon
  14. Double sided sticky foam might be better as it is a bit thicker - the sort of thing for sticking bump strips etc to car doors
  15. I thought I should add details of my experience of this company DTFabrications - in short - DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!!! They have apparently been liquidated, but a member of staff is still replying to emails sent to the company and is taking orders and payment via paypal (again using the company account). I've been contacted by another staff member and advised of ths situation and told my order will not be processed and as such I need to try and get my money back through paypal I have the contact details of the guy and will be contacting him to try and get things resolved, as far as I am concerned he has essentially stolen £135 from me as he has no intention of sending the goods
