  1. I've tried something similar on VW tensioners, idlers and viscous fan. Failed miserably, loads of bits of busted aluminium and plastic.......
  2. Courtesy of a mate who was gonna fit em to his Puma which got knicked a while ago so got no idea where he got them from...
  3. Every MOT I have an argument with the tester over the absence of side repeaters, my 110 was road registered (twas a military follow me vehicle when first built) a week before they became mandatory........So got a pair of flush fit ones to make a hole for!
  4. Can some nice person measure the side repeater hole on a late model Defender front wing for me? Its this type
  5. Theres a nice GTM on ebay in Seaton at the moment, I'm sure I could find a parking place for that....
  6. There was one, unfinished, sat in a scrapyard in Brampton for a year or two circa 2019, wife said NO....
  7. Special order from TPS..... Mate is gonna lend us his car, thats this weekends visit to daughter No1's to collect 4 baby rats up the proverbial creek. Joys of running vehicles with over 300k on the clock!
  8. Welder is a little cracker!!! Nowt done on landrover as family car decided that it doesn't need water to cool itself. one gallon of water every 2.4 miles..... head cracked, DMF not well and engine mounts turned to play doh. So as wife is having to use public transport (not a happy bunny) to get to work. Thought I'd do a quick and nasty job on front crank oil seal on passat, but that went mammaries up when I snapped the big bolt holding the timing sprocket in place (a three foot scaffolding pipe rather than a six foot one on the breaker bar, but man, that damn thing was tighter than a politicians wallet).....£39 for a bolt, £39! So I now have two dead land rovers, a dead golf, a dead passat and a dead mini. Anyone supply me with valium, vodka and a glue bag ?
  9. Up in sunny Northumberland, alloy radiators (regardless of brand) last about two winters before they turn to dust and all the fins drop off, the amount of salt spray in the winter is horrendous... Proper brass n copper jobbies are the way to go.
  10. Well all welding ground to a halt, literally. Wire feed motor on a cheap inverter welder let all the electricity our half way thro door bottoms. Oh well, looking forward to Tuesday as my lovely, charming, gorgeous missus bought me a new welder: Subtle hint that she wants the Mini back on the road, I think
  11. I'm not THAT brave... A question for everyone, why does one always run out of welding gas at 1.30 on a Saturday afternoon
  12. I don't have knees anymore, stinging nettles and gravel rash wrecked them..... Actually, normally have a cheap, Aldi , yoga matt for some protection. simply cut it in three and glue em together. cost less than a fiver. Also useful (and massively cheaper than shadow foam) for tool chest liners just buy different colours, cut to shape and Bobs your uncle
  13. Pretty shiny bits, seems a shame to put the wheels on Sadly the disc shields met their demise after the wife reversed the car over them. suppose it saves me having to paint them
  14. Guess I cant complain, I'm not aware that its been touched since the vehicle exited lode lane... It may have been green at one point, now its a rather fetching rust colour
  15. The weird thing is that I've owned that 110 for 24 years and only noticed it had a 6 bolt box yesterday!
  16. cheers mike, thought they were but thought I'd ask a grown up....
  17. and to top it all, its got a gemmer 6 bolt..... how different is the pipework?
  18. Did you know that if you fully assemble the front end of a defender (that has been sitting for a good few years) then wiggle the steering to settle everything and check drop arm balljoint play before finally tightening everything, that both the effing power steering box seals will decide that that very moment is the time to catastrophically fail...... Got a good Disco one stashed somewhere, more bloody work Anyone local to me got a metal detector I can borrow ? My 1/2 inch ratchet has just undergone astronaut training and passed with flying colours (pun very much intended).......
  19. Thats odd, thought I'd seen that before: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275347081877?hash=item401bf70a95:g:VucAAOSwCbNimHav In Dunstable.........
  20. Not having a good day......got drivers side front all assembled, brakes, shock, spring and hub. Sat down for a coffee to find I'd forgot to put the !@£$ing turret ring in, I'm calling it a blonde/senior moment...
  21. Gabapentin is the "regular" painkiller, the Tramadol is for break through pain (like which occurred after I manoeuvred the axle into place.....). Twas on the latter from Jan to March this year, it is very nasty but effective.
  22. Tramadol and Gabapentin are my new friends...
  23. Its a piece of flexible stainless exhaust, also got some some shrink tube to cover it with to prevent air leaks
  24. Rivbolts would do the job , if threaded part too long, cut it down. Replace hex nuts with wing nuts and they become quick release.
