    TD5 Discovery

Having seen many older D1's that are a bag of holes from rust (boot floor, inside of the back doors etc) what are D2's like for rust? I always think mechanicals are easier to deal with than rust (I am not a bodywork man!)
  2. Try ebay for roof rails. Watch out for 3 door/ 5 door differences and cross bars. Apparently they just bolt on.
  3. Out TD4 auto is great to drive, but drinks diesel at circa 28mpg if you are lucky. In comparison to the previous 200tdi discovery its excellent on road and motorways, towed the caravan better and is a much more civilised beast. However, no comparison off road! We bought at 78,000 miles, now done 92,000 miles. Had to do the fuel pump and front discs - drives excellent (you would not know it had done the miles).
  4. "Wonder if there's room to squeeze a BMW 4-pot in?" Just buy a TD4 and you have one - no messing around with re-builds etc!!!!!!!
  5. Try the stealers! I got mine from there for an 02 model - it just came up on the computer when they put the reg in.
  6. We have a 2002 TD4 auto, never had a manual. Not noticed any problems (but we live in a hilly area) and its done 91000 .(we bought it at 78000). Does it feel the same when you do the gears manually? My only complaint is the poor MPG (no more than 28 on a long run)

  8. RE MPG -We have an 02 td4 auto - I reckon we get no more than 25mpg (but live in a hilly area with lots of short runs). - the most I have seen is 28mpg on a long run.
  9. Glad I could be of some assistance. Both types of alloy are the same size (15 inch) and hopefully have the same size tyres. It should have the six spoke ones as the five spokes were on earlier vehicules, plenty of the six spokes on ebay.
  10. Interesting mix of alloys from back to front!!
  11. TD4 freelander would not run properly yesterday and eventually broke down. Transported to Garage who have looked at it. Their report is that a mouse has made a nest under the plastic engine cover and eaten some of the injector wiring etc - hence it would not run properly (or at all eventually). A nice bill for £280 ish to put it right (including labour, VAT etc). I think I will send the bill to the mouse!!! Sorry no pictures.
  12. Re the side windows and back door window - mine had cracks in the rubbers- just filled them with silcone type sealant and painted that bit black! Much cheaper then new rubbers!
  13. Anybody know the farmers phone number? Also, will I need to book with the farmer or just turn up?
