  1. I have a failed front cross over valve so stripped one off a spares car. Under the front wheel arch cover on a 2003 car. I tought this will be a 5 minute job to replace on my late 2005 car. Got the car up and stripped back the cover to find two piped disappearing into the bodywork. No valve. Does anybody know where the valve is likely to be located?
  2. It make sense for the TC to be linked to the EAC and the ABS so one sensor could throw things off.
  3. Long story short. Bought an L322 needing a diff which I replaced twice as I forgot to put oil in the first one DOH! took it on the road and blew the OSF driveshaft then fitted a replacement which is now operational. At some point the suspension has lowered and come up with the suspension inactive message. The suspension I fee is down at the access level and is a little bouncy on the road. The crux of the matter is associated with the ABS which I suspect could be because the suspension is too low. When I pull away the traction control fight me accelerating for a while untile the HDC inactive message come up. I cannot find anythis in the codes that would indicated a problem with the ABS or the EAS so really struggling to get to the bottom of this. I have disconnected the ABS which allows me to use the car.
  4. Either way a gearbox out job. As I have a replacement will be easier just to swap it over.
  5. When I took a sample out of the gearbox it looked remarkably clean, Is the pump a replacable item for a keen amature?
  6. Does that entail replacing the gearbox?
  7. Thanks I will top up tomorrow fresh oil will not do any harm.
  8. The gearbox is back to not working. It was working fine now it isn't moving the car. The engine was off when I opened the plug so could I have removed necessary oil?
  9. Would hope so but this one is 22 years old. Very nice car with 106,000 on the clock so worthwhile sorting. I have been out again and driven it about up and down, albeit not very fast but it is responding whereas before it wasn't going anywhere it would just rev.
  10. Have an issue with an early L322. I bought it with a suspected gearbox problem. Have it at home and after the initial tow hom about 1.5 miles I put it in my driveway to check it out. Before I did anything I moved it back and forwards without any issue after it initally failed to move anywhere. I thought I would try putting in some gear oil just to see what wouldhappen and started by getting an oil sample from the sump. Oil looked a good colour, not brown but a dark red. Which I took to be a good sign. This morning I got some oil in anticipation of topping the oil up. When I took the filling plug out the oil came gushing out, someone had over filled it. Let it drain down to the right level and reversed it up and down my driveway without a problem. I don't want to go out on the road until I have a vehicle to tow it back in if it fails. The question I have is can the over filling cause drive failure and is this permanent?
  11. I wouldn't want my other half knowing I am on here. Dating site not much of a problem
  12. I will be able to fill this tread Last one was after changing the rear diff on an L322 I forgot to top up the diff oil. Took it for several test runs then took it to the supermarket (9miles away) and back without a problem but still not quite happy as I heard a crunching on the first test drive. Took it for another run and blew the diff 2 miles from home. Manged to get it back home and changed the diff again this time making sure the oil was topped up. Took it for a test drive and all was good. Here the downer the first time I went to go out the front driveshaft exploded fortunately I had only just got out of my driveway and was fortunate that 3 guys stopped and pushed me back in to my parking space.
  13. I just assumed they were the same as the RRC. Having looked at a comparision photo I can see I was wrong. Just proves when you assume you make an ass out of U and me.
  14. From memory D1 and D2 had the same wheel base although a completely different chassis. For the benefit of production I cannot see them remaking the doors and would suspect the doors to be interchangeable. The only difference in the doors I can think of is the 2 door variant of the D1 where you need a bigger door to access the rear seats.
  15. More like this although the rear of the cab was a flat plate with no attempt at making interesting profiles. The bed was allot chequer plate and it didn't have the head board. And for some reason seemed shorter.
  16. Nothing like the one I saw. This was a truck cab and looked short on the wheel base somehow. Must have been built for a reason but I couldn't see advantages. Also it wasn't a pick up more a trayback.
  17. No but I suspected she knew I was following and why I was following. As we parted at some traffic lights she gave it a rip and she punned away. I couldn't tell if it was a 6x6 or a 6x4 but from what I saw it looked well made with a flat bed at the back.
  18. Driving along the M8 on Monday a 6 wheeled Discovery 2 joined the motorway and peaked my interest. Decided to follow to see if I could get some pictures. Saw a nice blond driving so decided not to follow further.
  19. It didn't sell for what I was prepared to let it go for so I will keep it until I get my value or I rebuild it.
  20. Think of the benefit of the fixing point. As the rope tensions it pulls the wheels inwards and they act as a pough through the mud.
  21. What I have done in the past is twist fresh wire into the wire to be soldered giving the solder something to ahrere to.
  22. I never said I wasn't normal. Normal is a bit like average it is all encompassing.
  23. I'll see you. 5 TDV8's and 2 Supercharged Mini Copper S's I need to get a life.
  24. You are relocating back to the UK having worked abroad for many years. I know you are allowed to transfer your own possessions without a problem unless they are banned goods such as firearms or drugs. Essentially, and in the first instance the car is personal goods so you should be able to bring it is you then have the problem of registering it so as it is a Bitsa I would get another D90 and rebuild that with your bits keeps it more simple. My wife imigated to the UK in March last year she had to fill in a VAT relaim form and that was it. We had some difficulties becasue she was coming from Moscow and there are a lot of problems created because of the War but I don't think you will have half of the issues.
