  1. Something like that yes. Needs to have the bolted connector at both ends, thanks. Help appreciated. My brother knows a company locally that maks braided hoses so will try the and see if they can do them with a silicone core.
  2. That makes a lot of sense because it is flowing through a turbo powered by the exhaust. Does that then rule out the rubber hose idea?
  3. I am looking at two options For the main house and the garage I have been developing an insulated concrete formwork system which is a little different to those on the market currently. That is my prefered option. For the living accomodation over the car port, because this is cantilevered I want to reduce the weight as much as possible, to reduce costs. I will be looking at a timber kit solution over this part. Want very high insulation values, above mimimum standards, to reduce the heat load. Main objecting will be to go green. So am looking at flooding the roof with CHP solar panels which can extract heat and power and use that to provide both for the house. Am hoping that the ststem will, at worst, be cost neutral but hopefully finance generating as the tariff on CHP panels are considerably higher. The other benefit will be my garage will be a good as heated as it will be 50% underground and well insulated.
  4. Over the holidays I was stripping out the turbos from a TDV8 L320 Sport that I have as a donour car. Primarily to see what was involved in doing the job with the body on. Overally not a difficult job just fiddly and time consuming. But it did let me know the challenges I am going to encounter when I do the job for real. In any event it is much easier than the 2.7 which only has one turbo to contend with. The one area I found difficult was the oil feed return pipes fitted to the bottom of the turbos. On both sides one of the torx bolts was directly under the engine mount making access impissible. As the pipe itself is very brittle I am worried about reassembly. One of the pipes on the practice car I ended up breaking the pipe to remove the turbo all because one bolt could not be removed. The torx head wasn't operating as it should because dirt and not being able to see it to clear it. When reassembling I know it will be easier however it has me thinking about better opions. One option would be to get a braided hose made up with the required ends on each. Another option was a straightforward rubber hose held on with jubilee clips which begs the question as to how much pressure will be in the pipes. Is this a sensible alternative solution?
  5. Thanks for the complement. I want a big garage to play in never had one and always wanted one and as I have a big birthday this year and I am the wrong side of 50 I want to make sure that I have the best play room possible. The house isn't compromised by the garage. The garage takes up the basement. This is the house plan and the rear view.
  6. TBH new build is easier than renovating as once you are out of the ground everything is predictable. Whereas with renovating you don't know what you will uncover. Reovated and extended my last house and not sure I would do it again.
  7. My land is in East Ayrshire but am happy to help when you are ready. Housing is my thing and as you can tell I love my garage
  8. Depends where in Scotland you want to live. I have land that I could part with for a house.
  9. I have planning of the site for 10 houses so the principle of houses is established however the design for the 10 houses was a nightmare because it was close to a conservation area. I may have difficulty but you don't know until you try.
  10. Just wondering what projects people or starting and finishing in the coming year. I am working to get a 2009 3.6TDV8 Sport back on the road by changing the turbos. Getting the sub frame and diff changed on my TDV8 L322 although I am subbing out that project to get it on the road quickly. My main project however is a new house and garage. As an Architect it has always been a dream to design and build my own house and as a LR nut it has to have a large garage. I already have the land and got the sign off for the design two weeks ago from the boss (Mrs. A.) The house has been designed over a 6 car garage capable for all Range Rovers. And a huge car port to park the cars that are for driving.
  11. Happy New Year to one and all. Hopefully much Land Rovering in the year ahead.
  12. I have never worried about the V5 that is just a case of applying for it. Neither I or my brother who buys far more cars than I d have every had an issue getting the V5 just have to bear in mind the additional £25 unless it is a Cat S where it should be free. As soon as you collect the car apply for the log book, if it is insurance or police it will come through quite quickly. Never had any of my cars inspected, just normal MOT proceedure.
  13. Bowie Your are not up to date the KGB are no longer in existence. It is now the FSB.
  14. Raw2K and Synetiq. Both have a registration fee. For Raw2K it is £20 payable on purchase of the first vehicle and lasts 1 year for Synetiq I use my brother's account but from memory that is £50 per year. I check the MOT history and check the photos carefully. I try and work out how long the Police have had it and what the circumstances are for the seizure don't be put off by no keys as the owner will likely have told the police officer, taking his car away, to go F himself and throw the keys away. The police aren't bothered to look for them and the recovery driver has a great big winch. I can give to the low down on getting keys if the need arises. My current car I have been driving for 3 years, needed keys and the front end was bashed in only issue I had with it was getting the speedo clocks repaiered which is a common fault on Sports and Discos. It came from the police.
  15. I buy quite a few cars through salvage auctions. The police seizures are often a good buy but you pay the money and take your choice.
  16. There are lots of Range Rovers in Russia. Have seen many. I got married in Moscow in 2017 an my wife warned me that if I mentioned Rnage Rovers on our wedding day there would be a quick divorce. I just couldn't resist just the once. Many of them a tricked up particularly the Defenders.
  17. Had made it public. I have taken a clip from recording my screen so will upload it later.
  18. I have had numerous RR Sports and various towbars (keep selling them and getting others) and have used them to tow Range Rovers on may journeys without any problems. This one has thrown me completely. Bolts required from now on to make sure they are secure.
  19. Hope this like works: https://www.facebook.com/100023657689262/videos/1103278683988102 What you should see is a video done by a friend of mine where we are rehearsing a scene for a coming video. Was good fun, the car predominantly at the back is mine the other is my friends. His car is the HSE that I rebuilt two years ago.
  20. Definately a brown trouser moment. The girl I was doing the favour for was seen running down the street after the trailer there was not much she would have been able to do. Thankfully everything was fine at the end of the day but I will never take the towball on a Sport casually ever again. Bolts are required.
  21. The lesson is not to attach it to the towbar. DOH
  22. The towbar has never caused an issue before and I don't leave it in place for fear of getting it stolen. Simonr I like your solution and there are kits available that do similar. When this favour was asked I removed a bolt on received hitch as it was not securing properly and kept on working loose. I wish I has just nipped up the bolts and used that instead.
  23. Yesterday evening my neighbour ask me if I could help my Landlords daughter as her car had broken down with here horse box attached at the back of my house. I said sure and attached the towbar to my 2007 RR Sport. Done this many many tomes and have towed many Range Rovers 1000's of miles without a problem, When I put the towbar on I checked it was located properly my neighbour verified that I did this. We then hooked up the car and started the journey to her stabled. After travelling about 3.5 miles while going up hill I felt the trailer release and roll down hill. The brake away didn't actuate the the trailer headed into traffic but fortunately it avoided everything and came to rest in a field. I recovered my towbar from the trailer. The horses were removed from the trailer and were put in a farmers field. The trailer was recovered. My first thought was I had done something incorrectly but my friend verified that I had checked the towbar was secure and one of the onlookers confirmed that you cannot remove the key from the towbar unless it it properly attached. Has anybody had a similar experience of the towbar releasing and if so what caused it. I have reattached the towbar and have checked that the pin properly located in the chassis but am really worried about towing with it. There were three horses in the trailer all unharmed but it has certainly given me a big fright. My initial thought was the horses has moved and the weight distribution somehow allowed the pin to dislocate from the car. Certainly the pin on the hook was fully extended and locked when I recovered it from the trailer,
  24. BB I get plenty of smiles per gallon with a 3.6 on both the Sport and the Vogue. Having said that my hack is a 4.4 petrol Vogue SE which runs on LPG. That gives me economy, power and a Range Rover to play with.
