  1. I have just blown the transmission on my 4.4 V8 petrol Range Rover L322 2006 Jaguar Engine. I don't know yet if it is the gearbox or the transfer box but am now trying to research the parts that are fitted. I have plently of both gearboxes and transfer boxes available to me so if I can match to one I have it will be a cheap fix. Available to me are the following: Range Rover Sport TDV8 I know this is the same as the L322 TDV8 Range Rover L322 TD6 Range Rover L322 4.4 Petrol 2005 BMW Engine Can anyone shed light on compatability or is it a case of sourcing a gearbox from a like for like car. I am hopeful all the gearboxes and transfer boxes are the same and just the ECU that needs changing.
  2. I feel your pain I had a winch in my stables on a receiver plate that I could attach to the front or back of my car. Was in my shed for at least two years untouched and now it is gone. Suspect I know who took it too but no proof and wouldn't know where to find him even then.
  3. Is the key the problem? Have you tried to get a replacement or your key repaired? Is the car an L322 or a Sport? I know the sports have an issue with the speedo clocks which are the main controlling computer for the car so that may need repaired.
  4. An update. The house was cleaned, ( everything was dumped into the conservatory) but the kitchen, bedroom and living room were all stripped of junk and car parts. My wife arrived 2 weeks ago and now the house is as untidy as ever as we have no space to put her "stuff" away and we are buying more stuff to beautify the house. Also two cats have arrived and with my dog it is very much like Tom and Jerry trying to get them to settle down together. My new job is to try and clear out some of my car bits. I need to reduce my fleet.
  5. It was available from 2006 onwards but mine is an 06 so a very early one. Most people would have opted for the TDV8 as diesel was supposed to be the fuel of choice and now you are a pariah if you have a diesel car. Oh how times, and politics, change.
  6. How do I belld the above cooling system? The car is 2006 cand a cross over so it has the upgraded front end and V8 engine and the older dashboard. I am told it is a Jaguar V8 and not the BMW one as it doesn't have the water cooled alternator.
  7. I also say that it is an illness. At the very least it is an obsession.
  8. That desk is tidy, I will post a photo of my desk by comparison.
  9. I'm an Architect and mostly do house extensions and new build houses. Quite often people say " sorry about the mess" my reply is that it isn't a mess that they should see my house
  10. Mostly mine get me home but that still doesn't make them reliable.
  11. At the moment my road going Range Rovers are in the following state:- L322 Vogue SE (Hack) in the garage having failed MOT on emissions and beyond my skill to repair. L322 Vogue in the garage with a transmission problem which is beyond my skill to repair. P38 Vogue in the garage with a starting issue that is beyond my skill to repair Sport in my drive with a soft brake pedal which has completely baffled me as I only replaced a pipe for the MOT and no cannot get it to bleed up. No Range Rover is reliable!!
  12. I am renting my current house with the desire to buy it as soon as I can raise the funds which will hopefully be after I have built two of my houses. I have been here for five years but really only started my collection after lockdown. I have four RR Sports for spares two of which are paid up and in profit. Where I am on the A70 (take a drive on street view you will easily spot the house) people regularly stop and ask. My neighbour is President of the Toyota club so don't get ant grief from him usually helpful when I hit a snag and he gets use of my trailers to haul "stuff"
  13. Not really but it certainly got worse after I was kicked out of the former marital home I shared with my Ex. For the 5 years after separation the kitchen became my defacto office and the worktops became my filing cabinet. I do need to scale back my cars because I have too many projects and with a new venture building houses my time is going to be elsewhere for at least 5 years maybe longer while I build them out.
  14. Range Rover L322 seat base switches on living room coffee table, L320 clock spring and indicator switches on Kitchen worktop just now as I tidy.,
  15. I knew at the start of the year was going to be a good one and within the first week or two good news started to flow. On the 5th we got the news that my wife's visa has been approved (only been married for good 5 years) and then on the 12th I got news that my Planning Application was going to be approved. That was a great start to the year and now the difficult part comes in. Having lived in the cottage for 5 years, initially on my own and latterly with my youngest son, the outside currently has 4 Land Rovers, 2 Minis and two 3.5t trailers at the front and 4 Landrovers a Mini and a Boat at the rear. One this inside I am in the process of tidying my stuff away and for ever finding bits of cars under piles of other stuff. This goes on in virtually every room. The conservatory has been used as a laundry and general dumping room as the roof is not 100% watertight. My kitchen worktop has tools and car parts over about 50% of the surface and my living room floor and coffee table has various components and parts all over the place. Even the bedroom cannot escape. The only rooms clear of any car parts are the bathroom and my sons bedroom as he isn't a petrol head despite my best efforts. I know it is not fair on my wife to move into this so have set about sorting out and tidying away. Just thought I would share this however photos will not be available as it is very very bad
  16. That makes perfect sense. It seemed to be massive overfueling and certainly for the little use of the gas I had it used a lot of it.
  17. Interesting finding. Before I took the car for the MOT I filled the header tank on the cooling system as I was getting a message that the coolant was low. During the MOT it was noted it was overheating however when I drove the car home the gauge was in the middle (never been there before) and the heater was blowing very very hot. (not complaining) Over the weekend I tried to bleed the cooling system and fed coolant directly into the LPG vaporiser. I then took the car for a 6 mile drive and while the coolant didn't come up to the middle of the gauge I was able to drive the car on LPG, before it had been over fuelling and misfiring. Can the cooling system affect the emissions?
  18. There are no symptoms to describe occasionally I will get a message up that says Engine system problem or similar and that is all the EML doesn't come on or anything but when plugged in it says 4 and 5 cylinders have a misfire.
  19. It does still have a mis fire on 2 cylinders and when I run on LPG it over fuels and mis fires on all cylinders which leads me to suspect the lamda sensors.
  20. You all know the disappointment you get when you spend time preparing your car for the MOT and it fails. Yesterday I took two of my cars for their annual check, mt Range Rover Sport TDV8 and a recently aquired L322 Vogue SE 4.4 petrol. Unfortunately they both failed the sport was relatively minor needing a rear propshaft, washer bottle sorting and and a brake pipe that has coffoded, The L322 had 4 issues but before the test concluded I demonstraighted one issue, The L322 has emissions issues which was a big worry as I have been working to resolve this and have fitted new plugs and coil packs so will change the lamda sensors newxt unless someone more knowledgable has ideas. The other issues are relatively minor with the headlight insecure and hand brake needing adjustion. The tester also said that the front passenger door didn't open but fortunately I had discovered a knack to this which worked sometimes if hit just rght. Sometimes it needs pulled two or three times but does open. So I confirmed it would open walked up to the car and snatched the handle and the door opens properly. I know I will need to replace the outer handle or the cable but it does solve it for now. So a big disappointment 2 failures in one day. Having sad need to winch the sport out of the field as it is up hill and very muddy so there was some entertainment.
  21. When fitting a new alternator on my latest L322, 2006 4.4 petrol with Jag engine, the 3 pin plug broke apart. How can I identify the plug and get a replacement?
  22. When I rebuilt my Discovery 2 10 years ago I bought a second hand rolling chassis and had it galvanised. I could not find the old number on it. When I rebuilt the car it went on the registration of the body shell that I already had. I ran it for 8 years and then broke the car up and resold a mint chassis. I never had a minutes issue, even had a garage do the work of changing the shell and MOTing it for the first time. It would appear that someone has reported it to VOSA.
  23. Happy New Year to one and all and hope that this is a year of happy Land Rovering without any breakdowns. (Well we can always hope)
  24. Got the car finally on Friday. So far have replaced the front bumper and alternator to get it running. After replacing the alternator yesterday and playing with the suspension I got a blow out on the nearside front. What a pain that was to change as the bottom 22mm bolt would not budge. Ater 2 hours, hitting, heating, cutting and trying to turn it I eventually came out and managed quickly to rebuild the car. The car goes quite well on petrol but has about 4 misfiring cylinders on LPG. I have ordered a service kit so will be giving it a full service over Christmas. Iwill be gratefull if someone could point me to the vicinity of the spark plugs on the 4.4 Jag engine, I cannot see them. Couple of other things still to do but it is now a functioning car and will need to MOT it shortly.
  25. The car is driving but will not take power and will not steer under load.
