  1. fitting instructions for part number STC 50265 fitting instructions defender td5 snorkel.pdf
  2. i will take a picture soon of my '85 90 dash with a defender 200tdi conversion. when i bought mine a few months ago only the oil and battery light worked. first thing i fixed was the difflock light. Previous owners have been driving around with difflock on..... ouch. Next was the brake fluid level warning light, parking light and heater coil relay light. low fuel light had a bad connection. high beam light and indicator light worked when they want to. not too complicated to get the lot working gain. handy when you have the original wires and wiring diagram with original colour coding. hope to send my landy for COR soon. (African equivalent of MOT). They not too worried about the little stuff in this part of Africa, as long as the wheels turn, you have at least 1 door on and the reverse light works, i should have a pass:)
  3. A handy bit of data compliments of Phil Please see attachment oops, attachment got lost. See the "Left and Right springs" thread in defender forum. My link
  4. What makes the left and right springs different? (except for the colour coding of course . Are they suppose to be different heights/lenghts or are they differently tempered? Mine has lost their colour coding long ago, how would you differentiate?
  5. Ooooh, nice one Phil, exactly what i need. Thank
  6. Any Idea of what colours go where on the springs. I get the idea mine is wrong, cant get rid of the sagging on the drivers side.
  7. Im busy with similar problems..... Bad connection on the starter finally caused my glow plug relay to melt. 25 year old wiring isnt looking to good now...
  8. Thanks for the reply guys and bush65 for such a complete answer and explanation on the wastegate. Now i know what to look for and how to check. I always thought a turbo is a turbo and the faster it spins the better! Good thing i didnt start tinkering with it.....
  9. Hi All When and where should the turbo actuator actually kick in? I understand the principle behind it that it prevents the turbo from running too high rpm... I think, but i have never seen my actuator actually move? I have revved the engine quite a bit and no movement on it at all. Does it only work when the engine us under load? It is not stuck although it is very stiff. WHat should i see when i connect a manometer to the line and what would a boost gauge actaully tell me? Thanks diylander
  10. Thanks for the info nickt. That sounds like a plan, havnt thought of a bent radius arm, i better look into that.
  11. Hi. Thanks for the reply. Its a 1985 model. The spring seats up and down looks ok. I guess the next step is to swop round the rear coil springs and see if its leaning to the other side.........
  12. Hi All My 90 is leaning on the driver side, quite visible when looking from the front. So i assumed it must be the coil spring, changed that but its still leaning. Changed the shock too, but no effect. Could it be the back spring that is tired? Its starting the be an expensive repair, since parts prices on this side of africa is double what you pay for it in the uk. Thanks.
  13. mmmhh, i need to change my indicator switch unit but cant get the steering off..... wd40 aint helping. any advice?
  14. Thanks for the info, will see what i can find. Came across a 110 today, but sadly it has been stripped and no engine or steering.....
  15. HI There I recently acquired a rough and tough '85 series 90 that has seen the better side of Africa. I am busy with several repairs including wiring, doors and plenty of other cosmetics. What would be an easy fit for power steering into my landy? Currently it has the 200tdi defender engine in, so i guess that would be the logical doner vehicle for parts. Not many of them around on the island, and even fewer disco's. I might be able to source a used unit from the mainland. Any suggestion? Thanks diylander
