  1. Hmm, although it works I think I have the wrong fuel tank sensor, it’s a sloppy fit and the locking ring does not hold the sensor tightly in place, fuel is evident on top of the tank after slopping around. The tanks collar around the recess for the sensor, has three lugs that are bent inwards but these do not trap the sensor locking ring to the gasket. In fact the sensor unit can be lifted out as the locking ring does not engage on anything as it sits inside the collar.. In the photo, the lugs are at 7, 11, 3 o’clock, the easiest to see is at 7 oclock just to the left of the yellow paint. The nearest looking part I can find is PRC8708 for a pickup!! Can anyone tell me what’s missing or the correct part for an ex MOD, 1991 defender 90 hard top, 2.5 N/A, with three wires to the sensor, having a low fuel warning light. regards
  2. Well you guys have sorted me out again, I have now established that I have indeed got a LT77 and LT230. As Pyrover suggested the 22D prefix probably means its either a specific spec or is not original. Thanks for the links, the Ashcroft one was exceptional. A bit of wire wool revealed the number on the LT77 that I would have sworn didn’t exist !! I just got totally confused chasing numbers and not finding them made me think I had something odd ball.
  3. You guys sorted out what engine I’ve got,Here now could you do the same for my gearbox please? 1991 Defender 90 2.5 N/A Ex military with a 5 speed box with reverse to the left of 1st, looking in the manual I thought I would have a LT77 & LT230R but there isn’t a number where the diagram shows them to be. I could not understand the diagram for where the LT230T or LT85 numbers would be so I don’t know if that it or not. What I did find was the number 22D******D close to where the manual shows the number to be for a LT95 box but the manual says it’s a four speed box. I’m confused , is the number I’m quoting a LT95 number? if not please help me find the number or identify what the box is.
  4. Well the snow has disappeared so out to the truck to check engine details, which is a bit of a shame as I fancied having a drive around in the snow. Western & Pyrover: My engine number is 11J00986A. Number is stamped ‘above the rear side cover’ Red: my engine appears to be identical, (even down to the same colour and same Mk6B tag) to your photo with the large plug slightly above and to the right of the dipstick. So looks like you have the answer. Again thanks for every ones help. I’m sure more questions will follow as I get into giving the girl some TLC. regards
  5. Thanks Phil, I'll try the S11 sites and see if its familiar to them. Regards
  6. Thanks for all your interest. Embarrassed to say as I have only just got the 90 I haven’t even got the engine number yet. Here in Ireland its blowing a northerly blizzard and the truck is outside with no cover for half a mile!! so I’ll check for the turbo oil feed plug and get my ass into gear and get the engine number tomorrow. Red, I’m encouraged to hear that you had a similar setup with year and 6B tag, you could be on the right track. Perhaps you gents would be so kind as to have a look here tomorrow. Regards
  7. Sorry I seem to keep with-holding bits of info, I should have given you all the details in the first place, just didn't think it would be relevant. Ex military 1991 Defender 90 Hard top, 2.5 N/A. Thanks for your patience
  8. It is a N/A. What I didn't mentione, because I didn't think it was relevant, is the fact its ex Miliatry. Do you think its some military coding? Thanks
  9. According to Calvin my Vin number indicates 'C Engine type: 2.5 litre diesel (model 12J)' but a round disc on the rocker box reads 'Engine "Type Mk 6B"' Whats the difference and what is the tag "Type Mk 6B" trying to tell me? Regards
  10. Ex mil ’91 defender 90, N/A 2.5 Diesel. The vehicle has got an ignition switch with ‘like a wing nut’ top to it, put the key in and turn the ‘wing nut' to pre heat and start etc. It’s not a steering lock. Its got sloppy and I would like a replacement but I cant find a parts number. Can any one help? Is this a standard part or an add on?
  11. I just bought a Defender 90 from Witham SV and am well pleased. Threw in a Sankey as well. They have loads of Sankeys and they are in the way, room needed for loads of Bedford trucks coming in. Chris Grant was the sales guy and will accept very resonable offers to clear them. Make an offer, dont accept the stated price.
  12. Thanks lads, Its only just stating to get holes, not as bad as the photo from Les, so plating is the way to go. At least I can now talk sensibly to a body shop and show them examples.
  13. Passenger side footwell is starting to go, is there a pre fabbed replacement or is it a case of DIY ? If there is a replacement who stocks them as I've had no joy with searches.
