  1. I live on the west coast of Ireland "What Is a hot day?'
  2. Hi When parking up the Td4 we press the zapper, she locks and sets the alarm in most cases that's perfect. Ever now and again we need to leave the little fella in the car but if we zap-it he set's the alarm off. Can the vehicle be locked without setting the alarm, I am just wondering if it is just a simple case of using the key the the door lock, if so dose this effect the alarm settings when you go back to using it in a normal way. Thanks
  3. Hi, When removing water pump I notice the two little crescent shape drive couplings on the pump are intact, but the two in the housing were broken off. Do I need to purchase a new housing and what might have caused this to happen. Thanks Leadbelly.
  4. Your more than welcome mate just come and get her, between them their KILLING ME The wife went out last night the letter box plate was still rattling in the door when Katarina called out down the stairs come up here and make love to me, I called back and explained it had to be one or the other. 5. I have to say in relation to the side steps it's not that Mrs Leadbelly is small and NEEDS them to get in and out of the vehicle,in the same breath she dose not need a wardrobe full of clothes that she feels she has to add to almost daily and as regards the hairdressers lets not go there However things are a-foot in this house just recently she has bought me a reclining chair and brings me beer as i'm watching sport with no prompting whatsoever. She has now become an expert at cutting the lawn, jumping up and down on the wheelie bin to compact the rubbish AND NOW she wants to introduce a young blond swedish woman into the bedroom. I feel it is best in relation to the side steps to accommodate her whims, ALL ADVICE WOULD BE GREATLY RECEIVED. Leadbelly
  6. I was just wondering how you guys stand on using brit-parts. Leadbelly
  7. That's it just got my wings, as a new disco owner just completed one of the many jobs it needs. Both air bags down when I bought it just replaced them with springs followed the instructions by Les Henson. In are case the holes needed tapping but then found there was some play with the supplies bolts, placed in washers and lock-tight to bolts at this point we added a couple of spot welds between the lower mounted plate and the supplied spring retaining plate as I was assuming this would compensate for any retaining strip. I have to say i'm not a spanner man but once I got going found it quite easyish. Leadbelly
  8. I called the guy and he is now unsure what he is going to do with it as he has been told it might be a 60amp fuse or the immobilizer, so i'm guessing he now is having second thoughts. Sorry i forgot to say it's a diesel. Leadbelly
  9. Yes we did buy one ended up going on a tangent, Ended up with a uk model that we have to pay import tax on and needs a few jobs. Freelander TD4 registered sept 2005 total including import tax £4,100. Rear diff has a leak, rear light glass broken, bonnet light scratches seems to have had a cat living on it, three different tyres with vibration and most importantly of all according to the wife no sidesteps. Other than that it,s very clean and tidy. So in the last three weeks we have bought a Disco and a Freelander, looking for advice and help on any of the above problems especially the side steps Leadbelly
  10. Sorry about that chaps I have got it now only need to remove the locking nut cover. Leadbelly
  11. Already stuck at the most basic job, have managed to loosen the nut covers using a socket and tapping it, there is movement to the covers but I cannot get them off. I did not want to use a screw driver at the side as I have already tried this with a gentle touch, did not want to carry on and cause damage. Leadbelly
  12. I know it's a 1999 not sure at this point weather it's a petrol or diesel, A friend gave me a quick call as he was stood with the third party in question just waiting on a call to get his direct number. At this point I can throw him a few questions, I have to say I find it odd that someone should connect a battery the wrong way maybe it's a smoke screen? Leadbelly
  13. I have just been offered a disco CHEAP as such, It's a non-runner due to the battery being put-in and connected the wrong way so i am told. I don't know how true this is and if so what kind of damage would it do. Leadbelly
  14. Hi Guys, Wife now looking to get a freelander about 05 ish she has seen a 1.8i xei 5 door petrol, what sort of thing should I be looking out for when checking it over. Leadbelly
  15. Call me stupid, OK THAT'S ENOUGH I have my coil spring conversion kit and a print out of the step by step guide with photo's. Can anyone please explain what Les means by fitting a lower retaining strip. I understand its purpose just not how to do it and what it looks like ( was now going to put that sorry looking round face in but don't know how to do that either ) Leadbelly
  16. Thanks for that Paul I need all the help I can get. Leadbelly
  17. common sense applies when it's pointed out, as I do have air-con then I shall go ahead with the cast vinyl seal. As a second question are the leaks just common to the sunroofs or are the two rear curved roof widows as bad. As these windows have already had some attention from Mr Silicon I just thought in for a penny in for a pound and cast vinyl seal the lot. Leadbelly
  18. Hi Guy's Disco Sun roofs been sealed to hell with silicone and the two rear side roof windows have had some attention from the same tube. I have also just noticed that there are fresh screw driver marks to all panels around the switches in both the front and back. I'm not sure if it's worth removing all the silicone and opening the switches to get them working, obviously there must of been an original leek problem. I am sure that the silicone is not fully working as there is a little water coming in through roof near the rear door. I am not to bothered if the roofs work AS SUCH I was thinking on removing the rough silicone and applying a full sheet of clear vinyl over the windows with a good overlap onto the paint work, this way I still get the daylight. 19. Hello all Just thought I'd give a quick intro to soften the blow of lots of up-coming questions as a complete amateur. We moved to Ireland from Lincolnshire about 12 years ago to enjoy the pace of life, so far up until a few weeks ago have never worked harder. To get the ball rolling I bought a DISCO year 2000 TD5 automatic with lots wrong with it for €2000 with no clue as yet how to fix them, hence a BIG HELLO. I have been trawling up and down old posts and FAQ's and my first project is to change the the rear bags to springs as the rear of the disco is down both sides. I don't know if it's the bags and or the compressor so i'm going to them as the detailed conversion by Les Henson has given me the urge to do it myself, there could be some Basil Faulty moments.
