  2. The wifes Disco (mk1,300,97-8) has shredded the rear prop doughnut, taking 3 sides off all the bolt heads and badly worn the 3 bolt diff end of the prop, i was quite supprised at the damage as the noise it was making didnt seem that bad. Anyway while i have removed the rear prop and will be looking to source another, will it be ok for her to potter round with difflock on in FWD? How long do the doughnuts last normally,i changed the last one six months ago due to an MOT advisory because it was perished, the new one has self distructed
  3. Seat belt anchor part no. MWC5055 (MXC3283) Which side does this fit, Drivers or passenger? cheers
  4. He disconnected all steering to the axle, including the damper, link arm etc. The hubs will turn fine until he fits the cv joint, then he says "it feels like its trying to push the hub off and locks up" The right side is fine, he says hes tryed another cv joint but it still does it.
  5. The best kit is....the oil bath filter, simple and cheap. Why change it?
  6. Hi all A mate at work has a problem with his disco, on his way back from a laning trip he stopped at some traffic lights to turn left Pulled away but couldnt turn left, when travelling at speeds of and above 25 mph all is well, below that speed he cant turn lerf at all. Hes disconnected steering, wont turn left Hes removed diff, all seems ok Hes removed drive shafts cv joint seem ok Steering turns left until you fit drive shaft then locks up Any ideas?
  7. Which standard wheels do you have? Swb and lwb are different width and will determine what size tyre will safely fit. 750 or 235 are a popular choice for a series on lwb/5.5 rims Personally i would upgrade to 130 defender,1 ton,FC or Wolf rims these are 6.5 and will give you a wider range of tyre choice.
  8. Sand All wheel trim imho is a good quality supplier at an affordable price
  9. I run 235/85/16 on FC rims on my 88 I run 900/16 on 130 rims on my 109 You can still get 900 Michelins but they are £££££££££
  10. Fabsil is the stuff for canvas waterproofing Prefer canvas hands down to hard top, truck cab canvas even better
  11. A good lane under threat here Ive objected.
  12. I thought it was measured from the front,
  13. Try here £20 a go http://www.vass.co.uk/
  14. I fitted 90 seats in my 88, swapped them round so the leavers are in the middle so you dont catch them climbing in and out, remove the hinge on the seatbox lids, secure with a catch on the front so you can remove the base (pops out) and slide the lid out forwards to get into the box. remove the series runners and the 90 seats bolt straight in using the same holes.
  15. Why not fit defender 130/1 ton rims and forget the spacers, cheaper than buying both, plus they are 6.5s so you can fit bigger tyres and you will have a better offset than standard rims No need to change the studs either.
  16. Sotal, Any chance of some pics of this vacuum upgrade,it sounds interesting. cheers.
  17. Twas the bracket on top of box, snapped Now welded and working better than before. Thanks for the help Pete.

  19. Thanks for your reply,i hope your guess is good,How do i located the yoke in the correct position?. ,or will that be blatently obvious. if you wouldn't mind listing the other parts that would be great cheers.
  20. The mrs was driving the disco today and after stopping to fill up, pulled out of the garage to find she couldn't select 2nd,4th and reverse I went out and recovered her and drove it back home in 3rd There is no unusual noises and it changes from 1st to 3rd ok When i was stationary and selected 3rd it wouldnt change back into 1st until i gave it a wobble and there was a "click" noise and 1st was engauged,2nd 4th and reverse however are not attainable Any ideas? The vehicle is an R reg with about 80,000 on the clock and has been well looked after, im guessing its an r380 gearbox. It still has about a months waranty from the garage but that only covers £150 so,garage or fix it myself?
  21. That looks very impressive for a leafer, like it,lots. B)
  22. 109 1 TON shocks will fit and are cheap.
