  1. I use a standard terminal end crimped onto the rope....BUT! before the rope went on i put 6 turns of (deep breath) 'self adhesive waterproof high-grip non-slip decking tape'. basically the stuff they put on boat decks to stop you falling on your ass when its wet.. the 1 inch wide stuff costs about £3 per metre and wraps nicely round the drum, obviously make sure the drum is clean first. And no, it doesn't damage the rope as it doesn't slip over the tape, just grips to it. Sticks like s**t to a blanket!! B)
  2. you tried it then?! any quicker? used to give my 300 a right good kick to it!
  3. that'll be me then. i've laced the truck up and down the 75 mile round trip to work a good few times now, reliability testing if you like. It all still works, and my wallet stings like f***...(who's idea was a V8 again?) it'll work!
  4. Click 'search', then 'find place'. it'll open a window where you can enter a placename, or in the lower half you can enter the coordinates. make sure you check the 'create a mark at location'. thats how i do it anyway, if there's another way i ain't found it yet.
  5. i killed three birds with one stone recently and got myself a 02 Xda orbit mobile phone. it's more of a pda really, but the beauty of it is that it has a built in gps antenna and runs a windows mobile o.s. so it will run memory map AND TomTom, it's all proper touch screen controls etc and work brilliantly, you can stick in a 2gb micro memory card and it also accepts an external gps antenna for added signal strength. flippin fabulous! oh, and it only cost me £40 on a twelve month contract!!
  6. dont buy a snapon one!! its a portasol with a snapon badge and usual snapon price tag! i use a portasol every other day and it's great.
  7. Thanks Mark, i'm not so good at trying to describe it, and i dont have a scanner to scan in a drawing. Presumably if you have that kind of programme at work you would have something as simple as Autocad? if so can you ping me your email add. and i'll send you a cad file of it. unless you know of an easier way of course. pete.
  8. Hi All, Dy'all mind if a newbie chips in? Although i'm a posting newbie on this 'ere forum (one or two of you will know of me from elsewhere) i've been observing for a while and been watching the two wing bar threads with especially keen interest. I thought i'd break my silence to ask the generous Markwindsurf if he would be so kind to repeat his virtual test with an idea of wing bar design i have. If you can let me know if that would be ok Mr...er..Windsurf? thanks Pete.
