  1. As it makes no difference to me what you fit, do what you like and pay for the damaged parts ! I was merely giving you my advise based on my setup and experience.
  2. Thanks for the clarification P76rangie. The Mallory duel point electronic dizzy does however need a ballast resistor according to Mallory, I would therefore suggest fitting one. Megajolt - yes please, going that route as soon as I have enough shirt buttons saved up :-) I am fed up with the carp Landrover ignition system which is giving me an intermittant misfire on LPG, despite numerous component changes :-(
  3. Hi, I have a Mallory dizzy and coil in my 4.2 V8 90, you do need a ballast resistor on the coil which can be bought separately from suppliers. I would not use the Landrover one, as the resistances may differ and cause damage to the system. I would recommend Magnecor plug leads too if you are going this route. Try RPI in the uk, or Summit Racing in the states - look 'em up on Google ! If you want to take it swimming, go for Megajolt which uses sealed Ford coil packs and no distributor. Gives a huge spark and can be run completely submerged - assuming you do something with the air intake to the carbs !! Adrian.
  4. Guys, Have just read this topic and would like to offer pics if useful. I have a 4.2 with auto box in my 90 which was sourced from an LSE. I did not fit it, so cannot give you intimate details, but please feel free to pm me with quetions if you need help with anything. Regards, Adrian.
  5. I think that what we have here is a working prototype of the soon to be announced 'Tata Budget Range' of Landrovers. The vehicle is designed exclusively for the Asia Pacific market where spares can be difficult to come by, hence the option of adding the body panels of your choice to a proven drivetrain configuration. This model has the benefit of a heated screen for those cooler mornings, as can be noted by the 'airdam' at the rear of the bonnet. This also serves to cool the high performance diesel powerplant as it struggles to pull the extended family of 83 adults, 74 children, plus 10 chickens, 4 goats and a 3 legged mongrel, all of which can be comfortably housed on the sun terrace at the rear. I think that Bob's earlier offer to inspect the vehicle would be an excellent opportunity for a fact finding mission. A test drive would of course be imperative, since as enthusiasts, I think we could all learn something from the cutting edge innovations which are currently hidden behind the impressive coachwork. At the current rate of economic collapse, it can only be a matter of months before the Tata Jalfrezi TDI becomes a common sight on UK forecourts ?! You have been warned
  6. Do they do 'Walfy' in the size selector ? I think what he needs is an inflatable roll cage
  7. James / Tim, As we will unfortunately be unavailable to recover Walfy from the scenery this year, could you please insist that he is tethered to his vehicle at all times to prevent him flying too far and becoming an environmental hazard ?
  8. In my experience, there should be an adjustment on the gas changeover switch which varies the point at which the switch from petrol to gas occurs. This is generally a small screw which is recessed into the switch housing, and which should be turned fully anticlockwise to allow you to run on gas from start-up rather than have an automatic switch over at a certain engine speed. Whilst there are those who will try to convince you that you must run on petrol before switching to gas, think how a forklift truck operates ! Adrian.
  9. Adds essential ballast to prevent the vehicle pulling to the right during motorway driving ?!
  10. For my 2p worth, I owned an Overfinch Classic 570Ti which uses the 5.7 Chevy LT1 motor with uprated brakes, air suspension and steering. What a car ! It goes, stops and steers like a GTI. IMHO it is the Classic that Land Rover should have built. The only BUT, and it is a big one, is fuel economy. A 5.7 Chevy drinks heavily, and mine was no exception. At best it would return 12 mpg if driven like a little old lady. Drive it the way you feel you should, and you drop into single figures very rapidly However, if you can afford the fuel, or can keep it for weekends and high days, go for it. If nothing else, you can blow the doors off the Corsa generation, and give some of the turbo'd bigger fish a shock at the lights - Boy do they get upset when taken by a Range Rover  Adrian.
  11. When the JST appreciation society tee shirts are printed, can I have one ?
  12. Looks like you'll be disguised as a small person with a bridge fixation then
  13. Yes please. Could you add me to the entry list, please pm me regarding your preferred payment method. I will be on the Plain with Walfy this weekend, so can give him the payment if you like ? Can SWMBO do the winch run around, or is it permissable to share Mark ? - assuming he and Dave enter
  14. Thanks to everyone for a well organised great weekend, despite the constant rain. Unfortunately, we do not have any pics, but Walfy's camera was clicking away for much of the weekend, so there should be some along shortly. Thanks also to Jim and 'Absynth girl' ( you know who you are ! ) for feeding us on Saturday night - cracking BBQ. Adrian.
  15. Hi Gelf, Exposed hinge doors and concealed hinge doors are not interchangeable. The front doors are different lengths, as is the decker panel. additionally, the hinge mounts are totally different on the 'A' and 'B' posts. How do i know ? Been there, tried that I have both models on the drive, so could make direct comparisons. Sorry mate, but hopefully you have not spent any money yet. Regards, Adrian.
  16. I would recommend you drop RogueVogue a pm on here. He is in Crawley, or just outside, and definately has the skills to tackle your sills etc. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that he will want to do the work at your place
  17. I would have joined in the thread, but I don't have the skills So I resorted to squaddie baiting instead
  18. Adrian, Not unusually, I have a spare in the shed which you can either try as an answer to your question 'is it my starter ?' , or pull apart to learn how to refurb it yourself. Am around at the weekend. You could always talk to Del at Bearmach and get yourself a shiney new one in exchange for many of your English pounds I bought a Bosch starter, and have been relieved of earache ever since Adrian.
  19. My humble apologies Mr Orange for the ruthless highjacking of your informative thread. I will be sure to consider the wider audience before offering any additional culinery advise. One would however require the hoist, plus pulley, to get ones self out of the chair following a bought of my culinery delights
  20. I've always considered Chinese food prepared in WD40 an aquired taste
  21. Don't waste the cost of a call with NFU, they will not insure modified vehicles. At least, not if you're honest about the mods
  22. Looking at the way Dave was wealding the shovel, I would say his hobby was mining for Land Rovers :P Let shorty drive :o You saw the damage I did, and I can reach the pedals
  23. Scored 1070 Lucky I drive a desk and not a rifle for a living
  24. Finally back to the pc after a cracking weekend's playing ! Thanks James for organising a great day out, despite Walfy's attempts to trash my car with his old line - ' yeah course you can drive it, I did' - my fault, I should know better by now. The wing banged back out with no problems thanks to mr lump hammer and his friends :P Anyone with any photos, please pm me, as I was a little too stuck in the truck to take my own !
