HBLRO Drive around day Hogmoor enclosure, Near Bordon, Hampshire On Sunday 17th April 2011 10am to 3pm ANY MAKE OF 4X4 WELCOME Hogmoor offers a wide variety of terrain to suit all levels of off road ability. 3. My vote is also new rad had a mate with similar probs he flushed the rad, repaced head gaskets, replaced engine but in the end it was the rad. A new rad cured it after a few weeks work and much expense replacing bits that were fine. As said earlier don't bother trying to flush you old rad, waste of time. New rad or recore is the way to go.
  4. I'm genuinely sorry to hear that was your experience. It always HLBRO's intent give everyone good value and as much access as possible. HLBRO always pull the canes after each RTV section. They always drive 4 sections before lunch. So the max is 4 sections with canes after lunch. Slab common is such a large area I can't see this having a real adverse affect to the drive round. RTV's are run with the Drive round to keep cost down for both parties. The RTV drivers also pay to drive. The hire of the army sites like Slab and Broxhead is costly. The club has made losses in the recent past even with combining the drive round and the RTV. BTW, I should say these are my personal observations not HBLRO's as I'm not a HLBRO committee member just a keen driver. I hope clubs like HLBRO can continue to offer access to off road sites like this and that the ever tightening rules, regulations and insurance costs don't put them out of bounds. Enjoy them while you can before they disappear like most of our byways.
  5. Eight small sections of the site will be taped off for RTV but as soon as RTV section is driven they will immediately be available to everyone. By lunchtime only 4 small RTV sections will remain. Please remember that this will account for a very very small area of the overall site. It's not a follow your leader. As you probably know Slab Common is a huge area and there's plenty of variety and plenty of places to test you car to it limits if that what you want.

  7. I'm trying to buy some spares for my 1986 LR90 The panhard rod bushes change from ANR3410 to ANR3410P after axle number 2A626646 Please can someone tell me what year axle was 2A626646 or tell me which pahard rod bushes are correct for a 1986 LR90
  8. Pay and play Broxhead Common Hants Sunday 12 Sept 10am Start £25 per vehicle see HBRO.CO.UK for details. On the A325 near Bordon
  9. injectors? try this http://www.gensetcentral.com/troubleshooting.htm
  10. I've just replaced a seized centre diff. Before that (when it was seized) it was the same as having the centre diff locked. I did a few road up to about 50 miles on tarmac. It was fine up to about 55 mph after that you could hear the transmission wind up. At first I thought it was a wheel bearing on the way out but it turned out to be the cetre diff. No damage done to mine but obviously dont do it deliberatley. If you do it by accident I think you would be unlucky to cause any damage unless you did 100 miles plus or started doing high speeds (60 plus).
  11. This size chart my help,,, or further confuss
  12. In my experince the slight increase in tyre size usually correct the speedo reading as most leave the factory reading under the actual speed wheen checked with a GPS. Fitting 235/85 to my classic range rover that had 205/80 as satandard fittment made the speedo reading spot on
  13. This is a good package for the price and the tyres are good off road and quite on road. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/INSA-TURBO-SAHARA-4X4-MUD-TYRE-235-8516-W-T-package_W0QQitemZ280464357901QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Cars_Tyres_RL?hash=item414cfa7a0d Note these are remoulds but INSA have good a good reputation. Kuhmo offer reasonable priced 'new' tyres as do BF Goodrich, which are more expensive If you want more road biased look for an AT (All Terrian) tread patern. 235/85 X 16 or the slightly wider 265/75 x 16 are the size you need. As previous reply 235/85 for you existing rims are probably preferable. IMHO avoid 152 tyre and wheel deals and stick with 16" wheels. Ther are many wheel styles and tyre choices. A trip to yopur local idependant LR specialist is probably a good idea if your not sure.
  14. Well that a saved a wasted job. Thanks for that info, really glad I asked
  15. I have a LR90 fitted with a Range Rover 3.9 V8 and ZF 4 speed auto box with a borg warner viscous transfer box. The viscous has seized and I have been considering what option there are other than just replace the viscous or change the Tranfer box to another BW viscous one. As I understand it, my existing transfer box will be a 1:1.222 ratio. Can I fit a standard 90/110 transfer box (1:1.410 ratio) in place of the existing BW transfer box. Will it bolt straight on? Any points to consider? I understand this willl reduce my gearing by about 14%. I'm hoping this will be better off road and not be to detremental on road. The truck is mainly an off road tooy but does get used now and then on road. Any comments appreciated.
  16. any ALRC assuming it's affiliated to the MSA would be fine you would not need to pay membership to do the HBLRO driving day. If you want to do the RTV you would need HBLRO membership which is avaialable on the day. If you just want to do the drive round (open site play day) and your not a members of a MSA club you can get a years HBLRO drive round membership for £5 on the day.
  17. Try Insa Turbo Sahara they do 750 x 16 and 235/85 x 16 They are getting good reviews in our club.
  18. It will be virtually open access. It will not be a follow my leader course. There will be a few areas that we would like avoided as we will also be running an RTV trail. As soon as the each of the RTV sections has driven been used for the RTV, the RTV section will be open for all to play on. The RTV sections will occupy a very small proportion of the site. If anyone fancies the RTV you will need a road legal ARC spec Land Rover. You will also need full HLBRO membership £28 a year plus £16 for the RTV. You can join and pay on the day. You will need to be at the site 8.30-9.00am to join, sign on and have your LR scritineered. http://www.hbro.co.uk/join.html

  21. Guys thanks for all the replies. A bit more info,,,,,the 3.9 EFI engine had a sensor that fitted and showed correct on the original 2.25 gauge but after the car boiled over because I had the electric fan switched off (muppet) it cooked the sensor and the x-fan switch. I had it fixed and a few other jobs, the guy who did it the work fitted a standard 3.9 temp sender and binned the cooked sensor. From that I know there is a sender that fits and works. The original sender worked fine with the original 2.25 engine gauge before I cooked the sender. So the hunt continues, please let me know if you know what sendor works in the 3.9 with the LR90 2.25 petrol temp gauge.
  22. Hi please can someone tell me the part number of the long bolt that goes through the bottom of the bulhead at the end of the front outrigger. The bolt that tree / rock slidders bolt on to. Also does any one know the size of this bolt. Mnay thanks in advance.
  23. I have a LR90 that was originally a 2.25 petrol it now has a 3.9 V8. What temperature sender do I need to give the correct reading on the original temperature gauge. The 3.9 sender shows the as max on the gauge when the engine is only warm.
  24. Snow was about 30cm deep this morning in Headley near Bordon Hants. Drove in to work at 6am I was the first tracks down the country lanes. Lots of fallen trees on country lanes. Drove over a couple of smallish trees and pushed through a big tree. The roll cage did it job. It still snowing now at work (Camberley) should be fun on the way hame later
