Hi I have a problem with my Handbrake not disengaging propley. I have taken the drum off and will give it all a clean but I notice the rod that pulls out the drum when the lever is pulled up does not return when the handbrake / lever is pushed down.
There is a lot of play in the linkage that connects to the rod is this normal?
I am thinking cleaning up the expander with resolve this issue but is there usually a lot of play in the linkage.
Any helpful comments appreciated

Hi I pick up a new front axle yesterday but it requires a new swivel seal so I thought I would rebuild the whole side whilst i am at it. But I am stumped to what the axle is off.
The calipers are twin feeds it has Swivel Bearings no bush and uses the wider radius arms and 10 Spline shafts.
on the Axle are the markings FRC 8902 and 18L0 / 6329.
Anyone got an idea what its off I thought it was a 300 TDI Discovery but as its 10 Spline I dont think it is.
Thanks in Advance.

I did think i would swap the bush one last time as i have a spare in the shed but In stripping it down I cannot get the shaft out so I guess its twisted. So after trying to get a new shaft I may as well go down the route of another axle.
Also with the Bearing type is the steering not smoother mine was always quite heavy it maybe i did have the preload wrong.

Will my Calipers from my 10 Spline axle fit on a Disco 300 Axle.

i fitted a bigger intercooler from a escort rs turbo slightly modify the pipe work and fits a treat.

Hi I am wanting to change my front axle to a 24 spline and to get rid of the annoying rakio bushes I have to keep changing.
My question is will any disco 200 300 axle fit ok do they all have bearing on the upper pins. Also are the calipers interchangeable I see some have dual feed to the calipers so I may need to use my calipers.
Thanks in advance.

Hi it's a long story but I need my truck going for tomorrow and it has no front prop away being repaired,
So I hunted through my shed and found 5 props I thought some were front and some where rears but they all look the same I have found a good one and fitted it all ok. But then it occurred to me it could be a rear.
Will I be alright to run a rear prop on front.
Thanks

Hi I have a 200 TDI Engine in my 90 but having trouble getting the correct power steering / fan belt. The setup is the same as this one
not my pic my is much more dirty.
I order a fan belt for a 200 Disco and got a 13mm wide and 1025 legth but this is too small I then used a 11A1025C but this slipped and not had much adjustment so now I have a 10mm 1014 which is a QBA1014. This also slips
As the recommeded one is a 13mm width I am guessing it would not slip as much as the thinner ones i have been using.
But what size should I be running as the 1025C is too small.
has anyone got an suggestions what belt to try next.

How can I test the pump ?
I will jack the axle up today and try to turn each wheel and try it with out steering damper.

Hi thanks for the replies I have just got the drop arm on now so the swivels are not connected should I be able to move arm easily because if I move the steering wheel it's easy just not if I try and move the arm.
-
Hi my steering on my 90 has gone very heavy so I decided to take a look as it seems to be getting heavier. I took off the steering bar and tried to move the drop arm but i really have to pull / push on it and lever myself to move it even with the engine running. However If I turn the steering wheel It moves easy. Is this normal
I have bleed the Power steering and loosen off the adjustment nut so there is a small amount of free play. Does it sound like my Steering box has had it, Its the orginal one from when it was a N/A so i guess its been in there from new.
Is there anything else I can try before I splash out on another steering box.
Are all the Steering boxes the same I know the disco have differnt drop arm but can you fit the defender one on are the PS pipe all the same thread across the years.
Thanks in advance

No Sorry you have to purchase the maps from viewranger. you can choose which tile you want using there map chooser app its fairly cheap. I got East anglia for £20 you can download a trial version and it gives the ability to use a free map which you have to download over the air.

i used mmtracker on my android tablet with built in gps its very good. I have got viewranger installed on my symbian phone and think its great. You can export import from memory map on your pc.

Check the boost pipe is not damaged and waste gate not stuck

I have just fitted an Uprated intercooler from a RS Turbo it just fits in front of the rad nearly full width but not quite the best thing is the ports are on the correct size so less messing about with the pipework.

Hi I am getting some strange vibrations through the t-box / gear box. I have very soft rubber mounts so I have ordered some new ones. My question is can I change the mounts whilst the box is all in place. Can I put a jack under and lift it off the mounts.
Thanks in advance.

Hi I have just fitted some +5 shocks to the back of my 90 I also fitted the pointey dislocation cones to get the spring back in the right place. Whilst out trying them out today I noticed that the Spring drops further then the cone but then falls the other side of the cone so when it compress the spring is completely the wrong place. Any ideas how I can sort these out do the other cones which are shaped like a tube work better then these spike ones. what do others use or I suppose I could space the cone down further ideas please.
Thanks in advance.

mine is similar as it has not got the plastic lights surrounds like most but i have a normal defender grill. I have got the plastic light surrounds to fit but i prefer it with out as it looks a little differnt.
