  1. My mates td5 had issue where it won't start or sometimes it would cut out and not be able to start for a while after it got to a point where it wouldn't start at all. Turned out it was sucking in air from around the copper washers at the bottom of the injectors he changed them and it's been fine since.
  2. Hi I am about to start doing the ball joint on my steering arm but I have come across a bit of a problem I have no lip to secure the rubber boot to. I only have about 2mm sticking up from the arm so when I put the rubber boot on top I cannot secure it as the clip just slips off as there is not enuf on top of the arm. Does this mean I have to replace the arm are all the arms the same on defenders.
  3. Do you know how much weight you put in you 285 special tracks It seems to recommend the 200g bag bit I might go for the 250g As having more is surely better then having less.
  4. I think i might order a few bags from D44 to try them in my front wheels.
  5. Hi has anyone used either of the above in there tyres I have 285 x 75 Special tracks and struggle to get them balanced and when there are the weigh usually fall off so I was looking at the beads. has anyone had good / bad experience of either on Mud tyres. Thanks in Advance. Baz
  6. I think I will go with the defender one it's to fit on my 200 as a bit if an upgraded intercooler.
  7. A quick question that I can't seem to find the answer to. Is a discovery td5 intercooler the same as a defender. Thanks in advance.

  9. Hi sorry to bring up an old thread but I have made a bit of progress with getting it to go a bit quicker. The waste gate was not fully closed so no boost was building up thats now sorted. I then got boost but nothing was happening with it so changed Injection pump now it goes much better I can get just about get to 65mph on a good trashing. Should it not be able to go a bit quicker then that. Any ideas how to give me more 00mph before i start tweaking the pump I want to make sure its running as well as it should. Thanks, Baz
  10. I have tried the wastegate, I disconnected the rod and can pull the rod out and the flappy bit in the exhaust will also move.
  11. Hi Ok so I have now check and couble check my fuel lines, cleaned out the intercooler, change the lift pump, changed the Diesel filter, checked the boost pipe. but so no go. I got a boost gauage and fitted that near the inection pump and plumbed it into the dash and my boost only goes to 0.3 bar Any ideas Guys.

  13. I have looked up the serial on my t-box and it is 22d018787B making it a 22B which I cannot find what the ratio is. I got my mate in the td to check his and he is running a 1.4 ratio.
  14. Sorry for the silly question but I was at work when I replied so I asked so when i got home I could look straight away lazy I know. I have got the serial number and it is 22D018781B Looking at the Ashcroft site they don't list a 22B can anyone advise what ratio it might be. Thanks, Baz

  16. I dont get no kick when the turbo comes in I will check the pipe that goes between the IP and the turbo also the diapham. Before tweaking the turbo I wanted to get it running well. whats the best way to flush out an intercooler.

Hi I have recently done the conversion to a 200 tdi from a N/A engine and it is a vast improvment but does not seem to be able to get to much top end speed acceleration is ok but whilst out yesterday a friend with a 2.5TD engine could keep with me and over take when I was flat out at only 55 mph - 60. I think there is something wrong with the engine it puffs a bit of blue smoke out when starting from cold so I will be doing the valve stem oil seals but what else can I do to speed it up a little. I am running the orgianl gearbox and transfer box and have a Lift and 285 / 75 / 16 muds my mates has standard road tyre so I know that would help him with speed but surely a 200 TDI should go a bit quicker then 60 mph. Any ideas will be appriciated. Thanks, Baz
  18. My Alternator seem to be in a different position to yours if I put a belt just to test in pulley closet to the crank it catches on the bolts that hold the PS pump in place. My setup look like this but the a different bottom pulley.
  19. Having search round the internet I now think it might be a 3 way pulley. would them belt still fit.
  20. Hi I am trying to finish off my conversion to a 200 TDI the engine is in everything is nearly bolted up. When i come to put the belts on as the Disco Engine came without them. I fitted alternator one no problems but my other one that goes to PS pump bottom pulley and water pump is not long enough. One thing I have noticed that's different from the write up is that I have a double bottom pulley on my engine not a single one. Is that the reason its not going to fit. or is there another belt I can get. Thanks in advance, Baz
  21. I have just done this and I tried using a side light unit as a clear indicator but its differnt as the side light uses smaller bulbs then the indicators. I ended up buy a pair of clear front indicators from ebay for about a tenner for the pair. Ebay link
  22. I thought it could be earth related as the old light use the earths through the bulb holder but the new one uses the wires to earth I will chase them back and try another earth.
  23. Hi this weekend I have changed my front lights and rear lights to 300 / TD5 lights with new plugs as well. got them all fitted and they all work apart from When the lights are on. I have no Passenger side indicator or headlight if I switch the lights off my indicator works fine. When just headlights are on the passenger side headlight is dim and indicator is lit a little. I am guessing its a earth issue some where but not sure where to start looking. I also pulled my electrics for my tow bar out but I still get a light on the dash saying the trailer light is coming on is there somewhere I can disconnect this or just pull the bulb. Thanks in advance Its a 1986 90 if it make a difference. Baz

Hi I am after the part number for the short bit of pipe that comes from the block to the thermostat housing its only a few inches long and an I/D of 35mm the local motor shop does not have nothing the big so going to try a LR supplier. The engine is a 12J 2.5 NAD fitted to a 90. This part here Thanks in advance.
