  1. He guys, had a de-cat pipe fitted to my td5, what a remarkable difference it has made. take off and mid range is like driving a different car all together. Now fitted with a egr replacement, pipercross filter and de-cat. going really well. Large inter cooler and a re map next year i think.
  2. Tried it now with EGR removal kit on. again like the new air flow meter replacement it is a slight noticeable difference but still does not feel right.
  3. Can i ask are the silver dials in the picture standard or where did they come from?
  4. Thanks for the advice folks, I have checked the waste gate and this is moving freely, i have just 5 minutes ago finished fitting the EGR removal kit from Allisport. Seems a cracking bit of kit so hope that works. EGR was black inside but seemed free enough to be fair. I have not tried it yet as i am waiting for gasket sealant to dry. I think it is looking like the diagnostics machine soon if this does not work. As for oil there is not a drip any where, shockingly strange for a landy. One thing i would ask is the EGR kit i got left the water jacket in place and just fitted a hose mount in replace of the EGR and a blank plate to the end of the water jacket and said to join the two blue vacuum pipes of the EGR together. Is there any benefit in removing the water jacket and blanket it off at the manifold or not? Thanks
  5. Hi Guys i am new to the site and hope you don't mind my direct approach for technical information. I bought my long awaited Td5 Defender last month and i have had a little problem since the day i collected it. I have owned 2 300tdi defenders both station wagons and wanted to upgrade. upon collection of my new toy i noticed an immediate difference in power. The new TD5 was seriously sluggish and noisy. I drove it back to Newcastle from Leeds and it would not go over 50 mph. It is a 2006 model with 35,000 miles and had just been serviced with all the filters and oils etc. I was advised to unplug the lead off the maf sensor and give it a try, this seemed to give the car a lot more power so i purchased a genuine land rover maf / air flow meter and fitted it. The landy goes a lot better but still seriously under powered. when you accelerate there is a huge boost of turbo sound but very little out put. it is comfortable at 50 mph all day long but if you accelerate from that speed the boost noise is there like a big sssshhhhhhhhhhhhh but not much increase in speed. I know there not the fastest things in the world but this is worse than the old 300 tdi i had. I have just took delivery of an Alli sport EGR valve removal kit that i intend to fit but i am not convinced it is this. I was advised to check the manifold was not warped and look for black soot around the head but that looks fine. No black smoke jetting out the back and all pipes look fine. Anyone any ideas that would help me as its driving me around the bend. Many Thanks Andy
