  1. Hi Guys, Has anyone had the misfortune to have to have welding done just inside the rear door at the top of the arch? I have a hole big enough to poke a pen through and this means that it has failed its MOT. I can see that there does need to be welding, but cannot see how much has to be done - is it a case of welding in a small patch, is there an inner wing that can be replaced or does it really need assessing on a case-by-case basis? I understand that I will have to get a welder to look at it and quote anyway, its just that being a Saturday afternoon, this isn't going to happen for a few days and I would like to draw on your experience as to how big a job this is. It also failed on a tyre (no prob), a windscreen wiper (no prob) and ABS light on (I think that this is a faulty wheel sensor so no real problem). It's a 97 V8 BTW. Cheers
  2. Hi Folks, a question for you. Recently my unlock/disarm indicators have stopped working. The lock/arm still flashes the indicators three times, but the unlock does not flash the indicators at all - until a few days ago it used to! It unlocks and disarms ok and the interior light comes on - it's just the indicators which are acting unusual. My previous Disco flashed the arm/lock lights only once rather than the standard three times when the key fob battery was low, but my current Disco is showing differing symptoms. Did they change the indications between 94 and 97 (both 300 models) such that this could be the fob battery? Thanks for any help. p.s. It's hard not to be smug on a day like today...
  3. Hi, currently running a '97 V8 ES with an auto box. Beautiful vehicle, but only two minor irritations. Firstly, the bog standard exhaust suppresses that V8 tone too much - but this can be sorted when the current exhaust goes. Now to the one that is the point of this post. I don't like the auto 'box! OK, so it is smooth and easy, but I feel out of control and I would like the control I used to have in my old manual. Has anyone done a conversion from auto to manual? How much? Is it relatively easy? Can I keep the cruise? Should I have waited even longer and sourced a manual V8 ES (how likely)? Any suggestions welcome. Thanks
  4. Had a problem recently with o/s bumper indicator which turned out to be a corroded pin in the bulb holder. This was changed but a week later the same has happened but this time instead of the indocator bulb failing it blew the fuse so all indicators failed. Found that the spring which held the bulb in had sheared and was causing a dead short - easily fixed, BUT, at the same time as the indicator fuse blew, the ABS light came on. Tests at a gravel car parkprove that the ABS is not working. As the fuses are OK, both in the cabin and under the bonnet, any ideas? It seems too conincidental to be unconnected to the indicator problem. It is a '97 V8i ES by the way!
