Hi Guys eds what do you mean "mud guards rattling on the diff input bearings" ? where are these guards? appologies if i'm being dense but i've had a long day :-) Tanuki, the vehicle is about '93 Q Plate, 2" lift, discovery 200tdi transplant and converted to a pickup with open back tub. However, the only changes since the noise started have been new front & rear axles with ARB diff locks, new rear tub, new wings and a new seat box. the 2" lift etc was already in place and the rest has been checked over by the garage prior to its recent MOT. Oh also had a completely new electric loom front to rear. As stated the UJs have been changed as has one of the prop shafts but still the same when clutching or taking the foot off the accelerator above 40mph Not really practical to go back to a "standard" vehicle so any other thoughts?

Hi I have a rattling type of sound that seems to come from the front of the 90 when i go above 40mph and then either press in the clutch or take my foot of the accelerator. The 90 has been taken into a landy garage and the usual suspect was the UJs and even one propshaft was changed when a UJ circlip was found not to be fitted correctly and the cost of the yoke was similar to a replacement Propshaft. Unfortunately this still did not cure the problem. The garage also said there was a slight play in the transfer box flanges and rear differential pinion flange but nothing significant!! They also suggested that the 2" lift on the 90 could be the culprit but this was already done before i bought it and it never happened before. The only other thing that another friend suggested might have something to do with the two new axles that were fitted complete with ARB diff locks but these have yet to be used in anger as the truck was already laid up when they were fitted. The garage just plumbed the compressor and air lines to the diffs. Any ideas as to the probable cause of this noise or the best way to isolate things as the garage seems to be stumped or too busy to look further!! Cheers Kev

Sorry to jump in and hijack this thread but does anyone know what fuel sender i should use in a standard fuel tank when upgrading the dash to a TD5 type? I have all the connectors etc but they don't seem to match the unit currently fitted. Thanks and appologies once again. -

Thanks to all for the help and ideas. Much appreciated. Back to work wednesday for another 6 weeks and then hopefully the landrover back together next leave period and in for MOT!! Cheers -

Hi Ralph i bought the full RDX Kit including the designed for purpose Relay for LED systems or a mix of both from Bolt On Bits and a complete front to back loom ( bulkhead, engine, diesel timer harness and chassis harness ) from Autosparks so in theory it should all work, It is likely to be something around the point where the right side feed to the indicators - front and rear right splits but i cannot find that at the moment although i've been told that it goes back to the stalk switch after the relay which may be the problem. I dont think that it is the harness. cheers Kev -

Hi Ralph all the lights work ( all new LED setup ) as they all work on the hazzard switch and all, except the rear right, work on the indicator switch which would seem to indicate lamps and switches are all ok. I would suspect the loom but if the lamps all work on the hazzard switch surely that means the loom is ok?? thats what stumping me at the moment!!! any other ideas?? -
Hi I've been ( slowly) rebuilding a 90, after converting from a van to a cab / pickup type, and basically taking on a lot of improvements along the way. The biggest issue i have had was with the electrics as the loom was a real mess of DIY by previous owner(s). So out came the split charger circuit, centre console carling switches, winch and winch circuit etc and a mile of 2.5mm green and yellow earth cable which was not being used as earth!!! After getting a new loom from front to rear and all between from Autosparks i am now in a position where everything is working other than the rear offside indicator when using the turn switch. All the indicators work when using the hazzard switch so the lamps are ok. The front indicator lamp works on right turn just not the rear!!! I have run a direct earth to the lamp so it is not that. any ideas as i am pulling my hair out in lumps? Could it be that the brand new chassis loom from Autosparks is defective on that circuit?? or something else like the steering column switch. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed thanks
