  1. Hi Paddy, Sorry havent had a minute to do any further investigations due to other commitments. I will update as soon as any progress is made. Thanks
  2. Hi Guys eds what do you mean "mud guards rattling on the diff input bearings" ? where are these guards? appologies if i'm being dense but i've had a long day :-) Tanuki, the vehicle is about '93 Q Plate, 2" lift, discovery 200tdi transplant and converted to a pickup with open back tub. However, the only changes since the noise started have been new front & rear axles with ARB diff locks, new rear tub, new wings and a new seat box. the 2" lift etc was already in place and the rest has been checked over by the garage prior to its recent MOT. Oh also had a completely new electric loom front to rear. As stated the UJs have been changed as has one of the prop shafts but still the same when clutching or taking the foot off the accelerator above 40mph Not really practical to go back to a "standard" vehicle so any other thoughts?
  3. Hi I have a rattling type of sound that seems to come from the front of the 90 when i go above 40mph and then either press in the clutch or take my foot of the accelerator. The 90 has been taken into a landy garage and the usual suspect was the UJs and even one propshaft was changed when a UJ circlip was found not to be fitted correctly and the cost of the yoke was similar to a replacement Propshaft. Unfortunately this still did not cure the problem. The garage also said there was a slight play in the transfer box flanges and rear differential pinion flange but nothing significant!! They also suggested that the 2" lift on the 90 could be the culprit but this was already done before i bought it and it never happened before. The only other thing that another friend suggested might have something to do with the two new axles that were fitted complete with ARB diff locks but these have yet to be used in anger as the truck was already laid up when they were fitted. The garage just plumbed the compressor and air lines to the diffs. Any ideas as to the probable cause of this noise or the best way to isolate things as the garage seems to be stumped or too busy to look further!! Cheers Kev
  4. Stevebythesea Did you ever find out what the cause was as i am having a similar issue!! Kev
  5. Hi Ralph not sure if you were responding to me or oneandtwo but if it was to me i have a 90 with the centre fuel tank with i believe 3 flat blade type connections one the sender unit, i will have a look to see if these will work direct "on the bench" Appologies oneand two and good luck with yours. Cheers Kev
  6. Sorry to jump in and hijack this thread but does anyone know what fuel sender i should use in a standard fuel tank when upgrading the dash to a TD5 type? I have all the connectors etc but they don't seem to match the unit currently fitted. Thanks and appologies once again.
  7. Also now has a soft cover for the rear tub area courtesy of exmoor trim and a returned item!!! Looks really nice and im well happy. Now all it need to do is fit a TD5 dash and a few USB power sockets, a radio. etc etc LoL
  8. Bit the bullet as it was taking so long to sort out between trips overseas i decided to take it in to Keith Gotts in hampshire and they sorted it all and put it through the MOT and it passed YIPPPEEE
  9. Would you believe it !! Bloody indicators have gone again!!!!!! WTF Got most of the rebuild done but have decide to bite the bullet and take the vehicle to Keith Gotts in Hampshire to get the electrics sorted and then MOTd hopefully next time im home in about 4-6 weeks Updates to follow.
  10. FIXED !!!! Turned out to be the stalk switch, after thinking about replacing the old switches i went and bought a set pretty cheap ( under £35 for the lot ) from ebay. fitted them today and all was good with the world!!! Thanks to all for the help and ideas. Much appreciated. Back to work wednesday for another 6 weeks and then hopefully the landrover back together next leave period and in for MOT!! Cheers
  11. Hi Ralph i bought the full RDX Kit including the designed for purpose Relay for LED systems or a mix of both from Bolt On Bits and a complete front to back loom ( bulkhead, engine, diesel timer harness and chassis harness ) from Autosparks so in theory it should all work, It is likely to be something around the point where the right side feed to the indicators - front and rear right splits but i cannot find that at the moment although i've been told that it goes back to the stalk switch after the relay which may be the problem. I dont think that it is the harness. cheers Kev
  12. Hi Ralph all the lights work ( all new LED setup ) as they all work on the hazzard switch and all, except the rear right, work on the indicator switch which would seem to indicate lamps and switches are all ok. I would suspect the loom but if the lamps all work on the hazzard switch surely that means the loom is ok?? thats what stumping me at the moment!!! any other ideas??
  13. Hi I've been ( slowly) rebuilding a 90, after converting from a van to a cab / pickup type, and basically taking on a lot of improvements along the way. The biggest issue i have had was with the electrics as the loom was a real mess of DIY by previous owner(s). So out came the split charger circuit, centre console carling switches, winch and winch circuit etc and a mile of 2.5mm green and yellow earth cable which was not being used as earth!!! After getting a new loom from front to rear and all between from Autosparks i am now in a position where everything is working other than the rear offside indicator when using the turn switch. All the indicators work when using the hazzard switch so the lamps are ok. The front indicator lamp works on right turn just not the rear!!! I have run a direct earth to the lamp so it is not that. any ideas as i am pulling my hair out in lumps? Could it be that the brand new chassis loom from Autosparks is defective on that circuit?? or something else like the steering column switch. Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcomed thanks
  14. Will try and get it scanned and posted next few days. cheers
  15. Cheers guys I visited the headquaters to check it all out and a Def 90 came in and had the tub interior done, it was lined with ply already which had to have an hour spent sanding it down, more to stop build up on the splinters. Strangely they said the oposite about the galv stuff, to get the bonding to this it would require etching primer first !! I dont know how much this stuff has improved but it is guaranteed on new vehicles for the duration the owner has it which can be some time i guess. It is far superior to removeable liners for the very reason you mentioned ie waster trapped behind those mixing with dust turns into an abrasive paste!! i can see benifits for both new tubs etc and re-furbishing older ones. The booth that the spraying was being done in was metal framed and plastic sheet walled but not a lot of over spray and because of the lack of chemicals any garbage can be put out in general trash etc. Much greener than chemicals etc!! I will keep the forum informed how it goes as i intend to offer forum discounts if and when it gets up and running . cheers
  16. Thanks Mike Yeah not sure where to post this one as not really an advert but request for opinions, also could be cross posted to other landys like disco and RR. I was intending to get my load space done, ended up visiting the main UK place and like it so much i wanted to get it up and running in Hampshire. once we get sorted i will be offering discounts to Forum members so watch this space. :-)
  17. Hi Guys Found the list i had i think someone had gone through the various pages and sections of the manuals, i will scan this and will make a copy if anyone else is interested. Thanks for all the pointers Rgds Kev
  18. Hi All Appologies if in the wrong section !! Just wanted to see if anyone has had this done to their Landy. We are in the process of opening a dealership for Line-X Coatings in Hampshire and would welcome any comments from existing or potential customers. Rgds Kev
  19. cheers had seen this one but the manuals only give torques on various sections, i had found a complete listing over a couple of pages but cant find it now!!! thanks
  20. Hi all putting my 90 back together whilst waiting for the new loom. I found a list of torque settings on the forum some time ago but now cant seem to find it again.!!! Anyone have a list of all the torque settings for a 90?? cheers Kev
  21. Hi Ralph Another one to pick your brains!! Couple of photos reference the cab roof to top of windscreen. It looks as if there should be a bolt connecting the windscreen frame to the cab roof although there was not one on the old Full length roof. I was wondering if this would be a required fit or should it be a self tapping type bolt as the fixed nut type thing in the roof seems to like a self tapper rather than a standard bolt. Or is it in fact something to do with the head lining? 1st photo is the edge of the screen frame, 2nd is the hole that appears to coincide with the location in the new cab roof. Trying to get it all together as far as possible to leave just the wiring. Rgds kev
  22. i think it is their own internal loom number, not too worried as long as it all works LoL
