  1. Hi, I'm new to landrovers, I purchased a new freelander-2 about 2 years ago. A nice drive but apart from:- First, the poor paint job which I discovered after the first day, which then took the dealer 2 attempts to correct the job, the first attempt being worse than the original bad finish Second, A drop in mpg due to the turbo being loose, only having done about 12000 miles I now find myself with a car which rates it's mileage performance not only in the usual MPG but also miles per litres of oil! Yes, I do mean MPG of Oil! This is official, I've heard it direct from Landrover that the Freelander 2 should be checked weekly for oil levels and that 4000 miles per litre of oil is expected. Can anyone tell me if this is fact or am I just being fobbed Off. If it is fact, can anyone tell me where it is mentioned in the performance specification that the car economy is also measured in miles per litre of oil!! At this rate it will add about 1/2 pence per gallon of fuel consumed. I have never had a car like it and can anyone direct me to where the marketing info on this car states that the engine has shares in an oil company! Apologies for the rant but having had german cars in the past and the good old Jag which never ever use oil (Diesel and Petrol) I find this incredible.
