  1. I have the exact same Freelander and have had it for 3 years and love it. The Breather filter is very important, so I would check that even after a full service. I removed my EGR valve and replaced with a straight through one, much better. check for any weird noises, VCU, prop shaft, diff, etc. I am no mechanic and the people on here have far more knowledge than me and maybe I am lucky, but mine has been brilliant. I make sure that everything is done and then check it. By the way, mine is nearly at 130,000 miles. Hope this helps in some way. Phil
  2. I changed the crankcase breather and the EGR with a straight through ALisport and its been greta ever since. My breather had never been touched either and this was a 51 plate (2001).
  3. After me nearly going around the bend and not being clear enough to you guys, I now have the V6 box fitted to my TD4 2L Diesel. Sorry if I confused anyone. Apparently Nick, you are correct, they did just that on the 2001 and after. The twin tail piped boxes were fitted to the TD4 and not only the V6. The single tail pipe one is to small in circumference if you have the twin pipe system. Thanks for all the answers though, its appreciated. Phil
  4. It makes a difference when the box with one pipe has the wromg length and the wrong circumference to fit???????
  5. Hi and welcome, have not been on hear long myself, but everyone on here has been very helpful and I have done all of the above that has been mentioned and it runs very well now. Good luck. Phil
  6. Found out that the smell was due to a whole in the top of the back box DUH!!!
  7. Hi all. I have been trying to get a back box on my Freelander td4 diesel September 2001 to 2006 type. The box I have on now has two pipes coming from it. Everytime I ask for the part I require, they tell me that only one pipe is needed. If mine has two, wont it alter the power or performance in some way if only one exit pipe is put on??? Not sure where to go on this one and I am sure that its obvious? Thanks Phil
  8. Got in my Freelander TD4 2001 auto yesterday and there is a bad gassy egg smell while driving and parked. It was there again today and I have no idea why. Cant see any leaks, but I am no expert. Any ideas???
  9. I have just fitted my Allisport kit after removing the ERG and I am over the moon with the results. I must say that last week I changed all of my filters including the crankase filter. I took it for a drive this morning and it was superb. The main thing is that it drives so much smoother and feels a little more responsive. Just wanted to say thanks to all the guys on here who have put this information down, including the photos, as it helped so much. Also Allisport sent the EGR replacement part very quick and it was so easy to fit, so thanks for that too. It is very much worth changing these parts as shown. Brilliant. Phil
