  1. BREAKING NEWS - TRO on Nant Y Arian for 6 months due to Larch disease. This will affect the byway through the Red Kite Centre. Contact the GLASS Area Ambassador John Askew for any questions or a map. PUBLIC NOTICE CYNGOR SIR CEREDIGION COUNTY COUNCIL (FOOTPATHS 14/77 & 14/79 & BYWAY OPEN TO ALL TRAFFIC 14/76 NANT YR ARIAN PONTERWYD) (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2013 NOTICE is hereby given that Cyngor Sir Ceredigion County Council intend, not less that seven days from the date of this Notice, to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person on foot and in vehicles from proceeding along the length of the public rights of way known as: Footpath 14/77 from SN7210:8200 – SN7233:8152 Footpath 14/79 from SN7223:8334 – SN7231:8236 Byway Open to All Traffic 14/76 from SN7188:8129 – SN7338:8323 The Order will be in place to allow for clear felling of Larch trees to restrict the spreading of phytophthora ramorum. Alternative Routes On foot follow clearly signed route through the Nant yr Arian site. In vehicles follow A44 to Ponterwyd, then follow first unclassified road heading north from the village towards Dinas Reservoir. The proposed order will continue in force until the works are completed. It is intended that the works will commence on the 1st October 2013. Where appropriate temporary traffic regulation orders may continue in force for a period not exceeding six months; this can be extended by applying to the Welsh Government. DATED the 21st September 2013
  2. Yep, that would work fine, make sure your cable is suitably rated, I'd say 2.5mm for the 16A and 6mm for the 32amp. The C type breakers have a higher tolerance to large inrush currents such as motors compared to the B type.
  3. Update on Bomber Lane ORPA, nr. Barmouth. "Highways have agreed arrangements with the landowner to move the material, and placed an order for the work to be carried out. The contractors involved are completing drainage works on the Trunk Road at the minute and as soon as they are available (possibly as early as next week), they will be commencing the clearance work. There are about 200 tonnes to be removed but as it was somewhat liquid, they have had to wait for the material to dry out to render it reasonably handle-able"
  4. Please see below some news from Derbyshire County Council Rights of Way department. From Wednesday 11 July there will be limited access to the byway open to all traffic (BOAT) route at Long Causeway, Stanage Edge. The width of the route is being restricted by Derbyshire County Council to prevent further damage to a retaining wall. Vehicles over 1.5 metres wide will not be able to use the route, between Dennis Knoll in Derbyshire and Redmires Reservoirs in Sheffield, until 10 January 2013. Barriers will be erected at each end of the route to control access. The council will be carrying out a survey to assess the condition of the wall.
  5. Done it on a two post ramp with wood between the ramp arms under the sills - sills were a bit crunchy tho! Lifted off ok that way.
  6. Report of a major land slip on Bomber Lane at SH64752 12743. The lane may not be open for some time. Will be reported to Gwynedd CC this week. https://www.facebook.com/TreadLightlyUK
  7. Had an email yesterday confirming it had been despatched
  8. Great write up and pics. I wouldn't recommend pulling the headlamp from the ball and sockets - the adjustors are only 'twist-lock' to the headlamp box and if the headlights are of any age the white ball sockets that are screwed to the back of the headlamp can become brittle and easily snap off.
  9. Mine are mounted on the back door, used some 12 core flex and fed it through the rubber grommet between body and door and into the door cavity - it's a bit of a fiddle but got it through in the end. I think, from memory, I doubled up on the negative feeds for the lights although you could probably pick a side light pos & neg up locally from the number plate lights. Only pic I could find was from when we resprayed her after the 'rebuild' - the sockets are the white circles covered in masking tape! One thing I did find was that some trailers didn't have enough slack to reach so I made up a pair of extensions about 1m long for the 12N & 12S.
  10. The seats are anchored at the front edge through brackets that will be on the seats themselves. The uprights are retained by brackets with push buttons to release them - one per side, mounted to the C/D(?) pillar. The seat belts will need the body mounts that bolt through the floor into brackets on the big tubular section at the rear between the chassis rails. Then there's all the trim with the holes in for seat belts... Disco/RR rear seats are interchangeable if you want the extra arm rests.
  11. Temporary TRO closure for 3 months to enable repairs to be carried out to a failed culvert. Official details from PDNPA/DCC
  12. I've got a 20mm bending spring if you want to cover the postage...
  13. It needs to be on it's own dedicated 32amp fuse/breaker at the consumer unit, cabled direct to the socket with no other devices (other than a local isolator) in the line. Cable size minimum 4mm² but if it was me I'd probably do it in 6mm² - I'm assuming it's single phase wired in twin & earth? The problem with splicing it into a 2.5mm² ring is the cable is only rated at 27amps (assuming no correction factors apply) so depending on the location of the socket on the ring all that current could be flowing down one leg making the cable rather warm and drastically reducing the life and affecting the insulation possibly. YMMV...
  14. Could definitely be a possibility, remotely started you'd want some way of keeping the vehicle reasonably secure so connecting to the central locking would be the easiest way. At a guess I would think theres going to be a signal wire from the remote start unit to the central locking ecu but where would be guesswork without seeing the vehicle. Only clue I can give is the central locking ecu is in the passenger footwell so look for a wire heading that way from the remotestart unit.
  15. Have you got an after market alarm fitted in there somewhere? I have and I have this feature enabled on mine.
  16. Should do unless youve squashed the contacts so they are touching each other. Happened to me a while ago on the disco, I'd converted the bumper lights to stop and tail and was upgrading the bulbs to led to stop them melting the lens and managed to twist the prongs in the holder so the sidelight contact on the bulb was across the brake and sidelight contact, very similar symptoms... gave up in the end and bought new holders as the water ingress wasnt making life any easier trying to sort it!
  17. In addition to checking the earths, it may be worth having a squint at the contacts in the rear lights - the two contacts in one or both of the lamp holders may be shorted out... have you changed a bulb recently?
  18. Yes, 27mm socket should still fit. Usually, over time, the actual wheel nut part gets a bit of oxidisation on it which causes it to balloon under the metal cap making it a right PITA to get the socket off!
  19. Re the android tablets, you can get a linux installer on the android market now, device needs to be rooted and it runs from within the android os.

  23. Hi everybody! Currently running round in a rover bubble shape 2.0d which is starting to get a bit long in the tooth (approaching 170k but still doing 45+ mpg), and last mot (july) was an advisory on sills starting to corrode. Typically 10ish miles a day with some trips for work anything up to 150-200miles every other week or so. So... Looking for something to replace it with and seriously considering a FL in Td4 auto guise, appreciate the mpg won't be as good as the current hack but do get a reasonable mileage allowance to cover. Main issue is eldest is getting on for 6'8" so rear leg/headroom is a factor for the limited time he is in the car (still saving so he can get an 88" for his first car)! Will probably go for an 02/03 MY -not bothered about paying through the nose for a face lift model for what is essentially the same running gear underneath.. I've read up on most of the issues, tyre sizes, IRD etc etc, just canvassing opinion from the other FL knowledgeable bods out there. ChrisW
  24. There's a small square cap which needs to be prised out with a small flat screwdriver, you'll find a philips screw underneath.
  25. The rear upright section where the airbag sits is missing, can easily be filled in with a bit of chequer plate or a bit of cardboard wedged in the hole.
